Microsoft Pink – A sneak peek

microsoft pink Microsoft Pink – A sneak peekOperation Pink is on. The closely guarded secret of Microsoft has somehow leaked. The internet is abuzz with titbits about the Pink mobile phones that can make your head go round. So what is this Pink all about anyway? Firstly, the phone isn’t pink. Phew. Supposed to be Microsoft’s next venture into the world of mobile phones, the Pink phones are codenamed ‘Turtle’ and ‘Pure’. They are to be made by Sharp, who will be sharing the branding with Microsoft.

As far as looks go, the Pink phones look a bit on the chunkier side, not all that good, that is. Turtle resembles Palm Pre, and Pure looks like a standard slider phone, a plump one, though. Both have slide-out QWERTY keypads that are seemingly comfortable to use. The screens look functional enough with their ample sizes. They are apparently touchscreens, probably high-end with a 800×480 pixel resolution. 3MP cameras could be housed by both, and there is even a hint at WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth.

Microsoft’s Pink is yet another of those ‘youth targeted’ ones, and some sources say that the phones will have Zune services while some also say that they will house App Store and are being built on the Windows Mobile 7 core. There is also word that Pink could feature Microsoft’s new Windows Marketplace, an application like that of Apple’s. Intended as an iPhone contender, as for now, Pink does not look like a strong one to take it on.
