Sony Ericsson teamed up with tennis star and style icon Maria Sharapova to launch this gesture controlled phone. Maria Sharapova perfectly epitomises the phone’s sleek and elegant qualities. This is the latest clamshell handset from Sony Ericsson that will be available from the start of April. The handset weighs 95g with dimensions of 93 x 50 x 14.1mm.

This is a unique gesture controlled mobile device. You can reject a call or snooze the alarm by just moving your hand on the screen. Its eye catching light effect leaps into life when a new call comes. You can even customise it by setting different colours to each of your group – family, friends or work, thereby letting you know who is calling even without looking at the screen. Its 2.2” TFT screen is scratch resistant and supports 262k colours and has a screen resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The external display is 1.1” scratch resistant OLED, with resolution of 128 x 36 pixels.Its wallpaper themes keeps changing from day to evening.

This Sony Ericsson T707 Camera Mobile Phone is equipped with a 3.2MP camera with photo fix technology, 3.2x digital zoom, picture blogging, video blogging and video recording capability. It has a built-in music player with TrackID, album art and PlayNow, same features as found in Sony Ericsson’s Walkman range. The supported music formats include MP3 and AAC. Its entertainment features also include YouTube, 3D and motion gaming, FM radio with RDS, video streaming, video viewing and Bluetooth with A2DP.

It comes with GPS and Google maps and supports geotagging of photos. Its organiser tools include calendar, calculator, alarm clock, flight mode, notes, tasks, timer, sound recorder and stopwatch. The messaging features of the phone are SMS, MMS and email. This Sony Ericsson T707 Bluetooth Mobile Phone is loaded with 100MB internal memory and supports M2 micro memory card up to 16GB. Its battery offers a talk time of up to 10 hours and standby time of up to 400 hours. It also includes GSM, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth and PC sync.

Just like Maria Sharapova, this mobile phone is truly a winning combination. It exemplifies elegance and substance. It is sleek, glamorous and desirable. It has a metallic finish with a hidden screen on the front. It is supposed to come in three colour options – Mysterious Black, Lucid Blue and Spring Rose. The pricing has yet to be announced. It is basically a mid range phone and is not going to give the Nokia N-series, the iPhone and the Viewty smartphones sleepless nights. It is aimed at those who want a basic phone with some eye-catching extras. It does have a couple of tricks to stand out from the crowd.
