Samsung Blue Earth Touch sensitive Mobile Phone, was picked out long back in the CES 2009, Barcelona. It was then a concept, now it is time to welcome the commercial roll out of this eco-friendly device. While unveiling the Blue Earth in CES, Samsung officials commented that this device reveals their commitment towards the environmental protection. This shiny blue pebble shaped handset is solar powered, and is made of recycled plastics named PCM. PCM is extracted from the used water bottles.
Eco Mode in this device helps to curtail the energy consumption of the device considerably by adjusting the screen brightness, bluetooth settings and backlight control. Many were sceptical about the solar powered battery. However, Samsung claims that 10 to 14 hours exposure to the solar light can extract enough power to talk for 4 hours in Blue Earth. One can also make use of the conventional five star energy efficient plug-in charger to charge the handset normally. The charger requires only less than 0.3Watts when it is in the standby mode. Solar powered panel on the top of the device adds charge to the phone whenever it is exposed to the sunlight.
Built-in pedometer or eco-walk function informs the users about the difference in carbon foot print measure while walking and driving; it is yet another eco-friendly feature in this handheld. The users cn even count their footsteps using the pedometer. Samsung S7550 Blue Earth Eco-friendly Mobile Phone is free from beryllium and phthalates. It comes with touch sensitive screen, and sports the exclusive TouchWiz UI from Samsung. Although, the organisation is still tight lipped about the price or network partners of this Sasmung mobile phone, its UK release can be expected soon.
