Samsung Blue Earth Eco Smartphone
February 22, 2009

Saving the environment is the need of the hour. Everyone should contribute in some way to protect the earth. Most of us are unaware of the global warming and its effect on the planet earth. Those who are mindful are trying to contribute their share to help sustaining the environment. Even some of the mobile phone companies are coming forward to do their bit, the latest entrant in this noble deed being Samsung.
Instead of the usual assortment of glass, plastic and metal, how would you like a Smartphone made of recycled stuff. Samsung Blue Earth Eco Touchscreen Smartphone is one such product and it is a solar powered full touchscreen handset. Shaped like a round shiny pebble, this mobile phone has a solar panel fitted at the back of the phone. This Smartphone is made out of recycled plastic that is extracted from water bottles, thereby reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions during the manufacturing process.
This eco-friendly mobile phone and its charger, both are made from substances like Brominated Flame Retardents, Phthalate and Beryllium, all of which are free from harmful substances. It has a built-in pedometer that count steps and calculate how much CO2 has been reduced by walking. It lets you know how many trees you have saved by walking instead of hopping in the car. It also has a button to initiate the eco mode. Even for packing the phone, recycled papers are used.
Samsung Blue Earth Eco Friendly Bluetooth Mobile Phone is expected to be launched in the second half of 2009 and the full details are yet awaited. Once it is released we would know whether it serves the purpose or is just a futile attempt to join the race for popularity. Anyway, this phone is being launched with a powerful motto – Go green.
