Android mobile phones are being flooded into the mobile phone market lately. It seems, Philips is also following the same trend. Philips V808 Mobile Phone runs on Android based OPhone OS and will be exclusively from China Mobile. Ophone is the family name for the OMS devices. OMS is the Operating system developed by China Mobile Service based on Android OS. However it sports a UI which resembles that of iPhone.
Apart from Philips V808 Mobile Phone, there are two more members in Ophone family. They are Dopod A6188 Mobile Phone and Lenovo O1 Mobile Phone. With Linux OS Kernel, this phone sports a 3.2 inch transflective TFT display. Philips V808 OPhone is a quad band device that supports various data link options like GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, UMTS, etc. to offer good mobile browsing experience to the users.
Although, V808 is a touchscreen device multi-touch is not supported. One can fortify the memory capacity of the phone upto 32GB using the microSD cards. It comes with all major features like Bluetooth, USB and WLAN to enable smart networking between various multimedia gadgets. A built-in GPS module is present in this handset and hence it supports location based applications. Complementary GPS services like Quick GPS, A-GPS, etc. are also included in this handset.
A 3.1MP camera with CMOS sensor is housed in Philips V808 Mobile Phone. The camera features include autofocus, video recording at 320 x 240 pixels, and optical zoom. Accelerometer helps to rotate the screen automatically. Additional features of this philips phone include Google Talk, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Search, EDGE Class 10, etc. The details about the battery, pricing and availability is yet to be revealed.
With 61 by 115 by 14 millimetres dimensions, Philips V808 3.1MP Camera Phone is expected to hit the market by November 2009.
