Unlike its bro Palm Pre which is a slider phone, Palm Pixi is a Candy Bar Mobile Phone. With a dimension of 55mm (w) X 111mm (h) X 11mm (d) and a weight of 99.5gms, Pixi is smaller when compared to Pre. But, Palm Pre scores when it comes to the CPU. Palm Pixi is coming out with a Qualcomm MSM7627 processor, which is less powerful than the 600MHz Cortex-A8 employed in Palm Pre. This low powerful chipset indicates that multi-tasking may not be so smooth in new Pixi as in Pre.

Both the models, Palm Pixi and Palm Pre works on WebOS operating system. This allows Pixi to perform multi-tasking (may not be smooth as we said earlier) and comes with powerful set of applications. Palm Pixi employs a wide connectivity including 3G, Blue tooth 2.1, EDR with A2DP or A-GPS. The absence of Wi-Fi cannot be said to be disappointment in Palm Pixi as long as you have 3G access of unlimited data package. The memory of Pixi too may not disappoint you much. It comes with an 8GB memory within which 7GB memory is user available. A digital camera of 2 mega pixels resolution is integrated into it, and this comes with an LED flash and an auto focus facility.

Palm Pixi 8GB Mobile Phone supports audio formats including MP3, AAC, AAC +, AMR, QCLP and WAV formats, and video formats of MPG-4, H.263, H,264. The 3.5mm stereo headphone jack and the audio quality is also said to be handsome as Pre. The display of this mobile phone is something where you tend to be stuck with, but it provides a decent view with 2.65 inches of multi-touch screen that supports 18-bit colour. The screen resolution is 320 X 400 pixels. The QWERTY key board integrated into its small size is slightly raised when compared to Pre. But this actually is a blessing to Pixi because the higher stand makes it easier to use the keyboard.

As a bonus, Pixi comes with Face book and Twitter integration. This is where Pre fails as it doesn’t owns the integration with these social networking sites. But in future, there may be a chance of software updation that makes Pre supportive to these too. The back cover of Pixi could be removed and altered as your fashion consciousness, which could make this mobile phone more popular among the fashion crazy social networkers. Above all, Palm Pixi is less expensive when compared to Palm Pre. In short, Palm Pixi is a lighter version of Palm Pre with some slight feature changes.
