The Doro PhoneEasy 410 is a simple-to-use mobile phone that was designed keeping in mind the elderly people and those who have hearing issues. It is the updated version of the Doro 409 with very little extra features here and there.

The Appearance

The physical body of the Doro PhoneEasy 410 is light with just 99 gram which is much lesser when compared to the Doro 409. The phone comes in three colours – red, black and white. The device is pretty good-looking for the price tag it comes in.

The Keypad and the Display

The Doro 410 has an alphanumeric keypad which you would find on flipping the phone open. The buttons on the phone are large and easy to use, again designed with the elderly people in mind. The large and comfortable buttons make sure that it does not strain your hands or eyes while typing. These over-sized buttons, though a very old-fashioned way of designing, will still be a welcome for many people around who are not keen on the small and cheeky buttons or the latest touch screens.

The display of the phone is not improved from its previous model. Its a small 2-inch display (50.8mm). The screen is too small. Considering the fact that the phone is designed for the elderly, the size of the screen will not be appropriate especially for those with eye defects. On the contrary, the 176x220-pixel resolution means that the screen will display contents pretty clear. It has no blurring around the text or icons.

The Emergency Button

This phone has a special emergency feature. There is an emergency button on the back of the phone that can help you when you really are in an emergency. The button when pressed sounds a noisy alarm for a few seconds and then sends a pre-defined text message to five predefined contacts. And after this the phone makes calls to those five different numbers one by one until a call is attended. If the button is pressed by accident then it is always possible for you to cancel it before the end of the alarm.

The 410 has a special hearing aid that would help the aged people better. This hearing-aid has a compatibility that rates M3/T4. This also means that the speakers of the Doro phone will work better when compared to the other mobile phones.

Usability

Navigation between the menus is pretty easy scrolling up and down cycling through all the menus and options. On the top of the keypad, there are two buttons that basically functions as the accept and the back commands. The phone has nothing really great about it as it lacks any of the basic multimedia and web browsing features that other phones enjoy. The phone lacks even a simple camera. Its an ordinary phone that supports the basic sending and receiving sms and talking. However, the phone has the ability send and receive MMS.

There are a couple of other features notably developed from the Doro 409. There is an FM radio that can be accessed via the main menu. Its a simple operation using the FM. The 3.5 mm headphones can be inserted and the frequency can be adjusted to get your favourite channel / station. These stations can be saved as your favourite and can be accessed through the hot keys, using the numbers provided. The phone also offers two simple but interesting games – the UFO and Robot.

Frankly speaking, leaving the FM alone, most other features in the 410 may not be the ones, that are regularly used. Considering that this phone is for the elders, there is a strong feeling that many of its extra features are not required unless the person is a keen FM listener. Otherwise the 409 would do pretty well if your core purpose of buying a mobile phone is making calls and texting.

As an ending note, the Doro's child-like user interface on the 410 gsm is good but there is nothing special about it when compared to the 409. Unless you are keen about your FM, the 409 would be a better buy.
