Nokia E7

The Nokia E7 has a large screen, a new Symbian 3 operating system and a full QWERTY keyboard to attract the business mobile users of the smartphone bandwagon. This Nokia smartphone comes with social networking features to keep the Symbian 3 phone in contact with the likes of Facebook and Twitter.

Smart Features

The Nokia E7's display features a technology called Clear Black that improves contrast on the screen to show deep black even in sunlight. This AMOLED capacitive touch-screen display of 102mm (4”) of 360x640 pixel resolution comes with over 16 million colours and OpenGL 3D acceleration. The screen actually slides out to uncover the full QWERTY keyboard below on the base. Sliding firmly out on hinges it can be tilted and then placed on a flat top, making it easy for watching video (16:9 widescreen) or typing messages. There's internal memory of 16GB but no expandable microSD card slot. It measures 12.37cm in height, 6.24cm in width and 1.36cm in depth, weighing 176 grams.

The volume key is a spring loaded sliding switch that is pushed up or down to control volume. The phone comes with a micro-USB connection and an HDMI connection to connect to a HD Television. The USB port can be used to transfer data via a memory stick or charge the phone with the adapter connected to a computer. The 8MP camera comes with dual LED flash. The camera lens has fixed focus mode only and an assortment of imaging functions and can shoot HD video in widescreen. There's a secondary VGA camera in front for video calls via the 3G network or WiFi.

The Nokia Music Player comes with a high degree of codec support and can play DRM protected music. Access new music from the Ovi Store or from your PC. The phone also supports streaming video online and Web TV for your infotainment. Play games or download them. The dedicated graphics processor helps 3D graphics.

Business-like

The E7 means business with QWERTY keys and Microsoft Exchange Active Sync support to email in Outlook and view/edit Windows files. Use Exchange email account to add up to 10 email accounts. It comes with Active Sync authentication and F-sync protection to locate, lock or wipe remotely lost devices. It's an ideal phone for messaging and social network integration. Put a widget on the homescreen to get up-to-date on messages. It supports threaded SMS viewing. It is easy to access files and emails or create, edit and share office docs. Pinch to zoom or flick to scroll on any web page. There's Vlingo and World Traveller app on it and automatic location tagging (Geotagging) of images and videos, with also GPS,A-GPS receivers integrated.

Powered by a 1200mAh battery the smartphone gives talk-time of up to 540 mins in GSM and 300 mins in WCDMA. Standby comes to 430 hrs in GSM and 470 hrs in WCDMA.
