5000 Texts, 2000 Minutes, All-you-can-eat DataThe Nokia's C5-03 is a 3.2 incher which is made up of a plastic case that makes the phone feel cheap on the hands. It is said to be having a slippery battery cover that does not help you grip it.
The Key Controls
The physical keys of the mobile have limitations in their control. The call and the end-call button cannot do anything else other than help you attend and end calls. There is a menu key in between them. You have the volume rocker key and the lock key on the side but you do not have a dedicated camera key.
The Touch Experience
The screen though, is large and pretty. Sizing 3.2 inches, the screen's resolutions is 360x640 pixels which has a resistive touch instead of the latest capacitive touch. CNET points out that anyone who is satisfied with the touch response of the phone would be so only because the phone is affordable.
The Age-old Software
The poor performance of the touch screen is the result of the age-old software used – the symbian series 60 operating system. According to CNET, a resistive touch screen puts up a lot of limitations on a user.
Typing in the device is also not so enjoyable as you get a series of pop-up dialogue windows that slows down almost any of the functions. Unlike modern smart phones, this device from Nokia does not allow you to have more than one home screen. Even the cheapest of Android phones would allow you to enjoy a lot of other features that the symbian does not.
The Ovi maps are standard and once the configurations and systems files along with the country's maps are downloaded, it offers free satellite navigation functions giving you the latest turn-by-turn direction assistants. The under-power function of the CPU would also mean that the phone's mapping functions would also slow down.
Functionality
The phone offers neat connectivity features in the form of Wi-fi, Bluetooth and 3G. But the lack of multi-touch capability and its inability to format pages to suit the screen size, makes the browsing experience a tiresome process.
Camera
Even the camera of the device has few up and down features. While the phone features a 5-mega-pixel camera which is an improved reading from the earlier c5 (whose camera is 3.2 MP), it comes without an LED flash. So forget taking snaps in the dark.
To sum up, the phone is crippled to say the least. Every feature or aspect of the phone shows signs of suffer thanks to the OS.
