The HTC Desire HD is for those who prefer power over compactness. Yes, this phone is a power-packed smart phone.

 The Display

The HTC desire has a monstrous 3.7-inch screen with WVGA 480x800 pixels. Though a big screen, the HTC does not show any signs of blur. The touch screen is fast and is extremely responsive. The text on the screen is said to be of an easy-to-read quality.

 The physical build up

The phone is made up of an aluminium case that is well built and feels solid in one's hand. But the huge screen with a metal make will also mean that the phone is a bit heavy weighing 164 grams. The touch sensitive button in the centre is supposed to be extremely sensitive as it is the heart of the operations.

 The Software

The widgets available does a great job of displaying live data with an option of seven home screens. Widgets for calendar contacts, clock and others are said to be very attractive and has the most stylish way of displaying upcoming schedules and other things.

Social networking is also expected to be excellent. The contacts of the phone are linked to the facebook or twitter or any activated social networking application. When you get a call, the phone displays the status of the person as in the case of the social networking software.

Some of the many features offered by the phone may be exaggerated to some people but never the less, it still is flooded with features. For example, the phone automatically turns on its speaker phone mode as you place it back face up. Now for those simple users who do not want these features can always turn them off.

The phone runs on the Android software. The Android being Google's own software does offer a lot of Google products like the Google Maps and many other services. CNET, a popular gadget review website, says that the HTC Desire HD is the best phone for online freaks. The software and the web browser is also upto the mark displaying pages pretty quickly and accurately. The desire also supports Flash Player 10 which ensures smooth and complete downloading of pages. This phone can be compared with the Samsung Nexus S for its internet capabilities.

All this packaged power would also mean that the battery life of the device is below par. There is a power saver mode that will warn you when the battery goes down below the 15% mark.

Again the phone is a very good portable mini computer and a good entertainer if you do not mind its bulky and weighty nature. But you can also consider the HTC Sensation or the HTC Wildfire.
