September 28, 2008
The mobile phone giant, Nokia, is all set to take on the world with the release of its first touchscreen phone – Nokia XpressMusic 5800 Mobile Phone, nicknamed ‘Tube’. The much-touted phone would feature a large touchscreen, 3 mega pixel camera and 140MB memory.
Incredible touch interface
The phone is expected to flaunt a 3.2” touchscreen mobile with haptic feedback. Haptic technology also known as force-feedback technology is related to our senses. The users, when touch the screen would receive feedback as if they are pressing a real button due to the vibration technology incorporated in the screen. The screen would have a 16M TFT display with 360 x 640 pixels resolution and would have 16:9 ratio that makes watching movies a pleasurable experience. The phone that weighs 100g with a thickness of 14.5 mm would be available with a stylus.
Imaging & entertainment features
This Nokia XpressMusic 5800 ‘Tube’ Camera Mobile Phone would feature a 3 mega pixel auto focus camera that would be probably using Carl Zeiss lens and LED flash. The video is expected to be good and TV out socket is likely to be provided in the phone. As its name suggests, the phone would have great audio capabilities and it would feature 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Connectivity at its best
This mobile phone would operate on quad band network and run Series 60 Symbian OS. It would feature all the most recent technologies like 3G, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS, Edge, UMTS and WLAN. The phone would also come with A-GPS and would support geo-tagging. With explorer web browser, it would enable full page pan and zoom just as you would do on your PC. The phone is expected to integrate 140 MB internal memory and support for 8GB microSD cards.
You need not worry about the security aspect, which Nokia boasts of having taken care of. You would be able to encrypt emails, contacts and files on the phone as well as on the storage cards. The downside of the mobile seems to be the lack of front facing camera for video calling and also, it could have incorporated a greater mega pixel camera to compete with the latest 8mp camera phones.
The iPhone, with its full touchscreen, was reigning supreme with no contenders to its throne. Finally, Nokia enters the picture, expected to give a jolt to other touchscreen phones. The fate of this Nokia XpressMusic 5800 3G Mobile Phone would be decided once it hits the market next month. It is believed that Nokia is all set to rule the touchscreen mobile market with its forthcoming S60 based high-end handset.
