Here’s a phone that could make it clear as to why some people are so bent in sticking to Nokia – the N8. The mobile phone has a lot of drama surrounding it, which makes it all the more attractive. It’s Nokia’s first ever mobile phone to run on Symbian^3 OS and the first one to sport a funky new angular design. It has spent a lot of time and energy on this Nokia mobile phone and it shows.
The Nokia N8 prides itself with a mega-cool 12MP camera which it says will “rival dedicated point and shoot cameras.” The camera will have Carl Zeiss optics, Xenon flash and can shoot HD video, that you can edit using the ‘built-in editing suite.’ But the most important addition to the camera is the biggest sensor that one can find in a mobile phone, which is even bigger than those found in many digital cameras.
This sensor, when combined with the high-end optics will provide top-notch pictures and also enable the camera to function perfectly in low-light conditions. The size of the sensor will also improve speed and balance and eliminate the need for image processing, according to Nokia. Take a look at the N8′s first sample shots – they do look groovy! The handset also comes with an HDMI connector – so you can hook it to your HDTV and flaunt your masterpieces on the big screen!
The Nokia N8 smartphone is a definite looker! It could even make an ardent Nokia-hater sit up and take notice. The handset’s top and bottom edges are tapered and it comes in a five colours such as orange, silver white, green, blue and dark grey. (There’s no black – phew!) The N8 has a 3.5” capacitive OLED touchscreen display which should be comfortable to view your pics and videos and browse. You can also customise the home screen with loads of applications and also access Twitter and Facebook updates from the homescreen.
This smartphone comes with a whopping memory capacity – about 16GB built-in which you can further expand to 48GB using microSD cards. Cool, huh? Imagine how much of music can be stored! What with the inclusion of a 1200 mAh battery, you can enjoy 50 hours of music or 7 hours of video playback. In case you’re bored of all the pinching and flicking, you can also opt for a capacitive stylus. ( But using your finger has definitely got to be more heart-warming!)
And of course, you can enjoy access to the entire array of Ovi services and also build your own application using the Qt software development environment. The N8 is Nokia’s first smartphone to include Qt – so it must be a dream come true for programmers. The Nokia N8 will be out this summer and we can’t wait to get our hands on it! But not to worry Nokia, we’ll be doing it the proper way!
