dext Motorola DEXT Mobile PhoneMotorola is set to come back with a bang. For all you die-hard Moto fans, the fact that it is to launch an Android based mobile phone will be reason enough to celebrate. ‘Motorola DEXT’ is the name and Android is the game. Motorola has combined Google’s operating system with MOTOBLUR, its own interface. Starting with MOTOBLUR, one must first appreciate Motorola to have gone beyond Android and added something more to the DEXT.  MOTOBLUR is a user interface that provides quick and integrated access to your contacts, emails, feeds, photos, messages, Facebook, Twitter and Myspace from the homescreen. It also lets you combine all your messages and emails from  Facebook, Twitter & Myspace in one inbox, making life so very simple.

Now you can update your “Social status” across the social networking sites in just one go, without the necessity to type in all the user IDs and passwords. How cool is that, Moto! Moving on to the other features, the presence of Android 1.5 OS (the scrumptious ‘Cupcake’) provides you with a multitude of Google goodies. The DEXT is a sliderphone with a touchscreen interface. The screen is about 3.1” with a 320 x 480 pixel resolution. Watching videos in this screen is pretty enjoyable, and so is browsing. The slide-out QWERTY keypad is another treat. It has a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, geo tagging and picture editing. Camera is decent enough for you to spend some time experimenting with different shots.

To talk about the looks, the DEXT doesn’t look bad, but is quite heavy at 163 grams and measuring 114x58x15.6 mm. It has a 1420 mAh battery and quotes a good standby time of 13.5 days. This Moto is a 3G device and supports EDGE, WiFi and GSM. The DEXT has a decent music player that supports MP3 , AAC, AAC+, AAC+ Enhanced, AMR NB, MIDI and WAV formats. It has a MicroUSB 2.0 port and also a 3.5mm headphone jack. Memory is in the form of a removable MicroSD card of up to 32GB with no internal storage. This Moto comes in black, white and titanium versions for you to choose from and will be available exclusively on Orange in the UK from October on a 24-month contract for £34.26. Known as Motorola CLIQ in the United States, Motorola has evidently put in a lot of effort in this Android mobile phone. All signs indicate a comeback. Will the DEXT be Motorola’s winning card? We sure do hope so. All the best Moto!
