Modu has reportedly confirmed of working on a new touch screen device that they call Modu 2. They plan to release this unit in UK, Western Europe, Japan and US in 2010. The CEO of the company has confirmed that the first generation Modu will get a 2009 release in Russia, India, Philippines, Greece, Romania and certain parts of South America. The company has managed to sell 1000 Modu handsets since its launch in the home country Israel.
When questioned as to why the original Modu was not released in UK, the company CEO, Dov Moran has been reported to state that the handset was not considered to be good enough for the demanding Americans and Brits who constantly surf the web and stay connected. The company’s CEO, Moran has also confirmed that the company expects to launch the new handset at the Mobile World Congress in February 2010.
The specifications and pricing details of the latest Modu 2 handset is still under wraps, however it is claimed to have a full touch screen functionality and a 3.5G HSDPA connectivity. The phone may bundle up a jacket with a QWERTY keypad. The UK phone carriers are yet to be confirmed.
