O2, Apple iPhone’s original mobile partner in UK boasts of a peak sale of 2 million Apple iPhones in UK, despite of their loss of the exclusivity on the mobile phone. O2′s two year exclusive agreement on Apple iPhone ended in last September.
However, according to Ronan Dunne, Chief Executive Officer of O2, the company still benefits from being the first operator of iPhone and the two year deal kept the customers flowing into the company. He also added that the demand was high in December. Besides, Mr. Dunne expects this trend to continue for some more time.
O2 faced some complaints on the data coverage on Apple iPhone. However, Mr. Dunne stated that O2 was not effected by this issue, and the company didn’t lose much customers when the contract expired.
Vodafone, which secured a similar Apple iPhone deal in UK recently, managed to make a sale of 100,000 in the first week of its launch. Although they declined to show an exact figures of the sales, Vodafone claimed that many customers have migrated to Vodafone, since they launched iPhone. O2 has refused this claim and presents this 2 million customer database as an evidence.
