Intel and Nokia will be soon setting up a new research centre in Finland in order to concentrate on developing the user friendly devices starting with 3D. The site is a part of broader partnership between the two companies and will base on 3D user interface technology. Researchers ensured that the 3D services available on mobile phones would not require the use of separate glasses.
A joint software venture was announced by Intel and Nokia in February, named MeeGo. The pair said that the joint venture today seems to make a big difference in improving Nokia’s position at the top of the handset market and that the venture has taken a positive start.
MeeGo is based on Linux open source software that blends Linux Maemo software platform of Nokia with Intel’s Moblin. The Symbian operating system of Nokia is obvious to take up a tough competition with Google Andriod and Apple.
