microsoft Microsoft to launch new mobile phones todayMicrosoft is set to launch two new much talked about mobile phones at a nightclub in San Francisco today. The phones which are part of it’s ‘Project Pink’ mobile phones are codenamed ‘Turtle’ and ‘Pure’. According to Reuters, the mobile phones will be targeted at youngsters who like keeping in touch at all times, with features such as access to social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, instant messaging and multiple accounts.

Reuters quoted Morningstar analyst Toan Tran as saying that “This is a trial for Microsoft. If this goes well or better than they expect, they may be more willing to dip their toe in the water and build a full-fledged phone.” According to CNET, the ‘Project Pink’ mobile phones will sport touch screens and keyboards and will also provide access to the Zune music service.

Microsoft is supposedly launching these mobile phones this summer, while some reports suggest that the phones will be available on Verizon. It is also reported that the handsets are manufactured by Sharp, known to be a partner of Danger, Inc, Microsoft’s recent acquisition.
