Hacking an Apple iPhone

apple iphone Hacking an Apple iPhoneThe Apple iPhone software is not bug-free. Researchers have found a way to hack into the phone, make calls, send text messages and even get data from it by merely sending a message to the phone. A report in CNet.co.uk mentions how in a test, their own iPhone was deactivated by a test message when they were on a call. The report also states that though the phone came back to life after a while, it was still non-functional and required a reboot.

It is said that Apple has been informed of the same about 6 weeks back. However the Mac-maker has not yet released any patch code to overcome the bug.

The Google Android based smartphones were reportedly carrying a bug that could put the phones off the internet by a text message. However, the text message could not allow total control of the phones. When Google was informed of the problem, they set it right within a couple of days.

Earlier, attacks on mobile phones were done only when the user opened a file or a started a program that triggered the attack. But now, even without the user’s knowledge, such attacks are possible with the mere knowledge of the victim’s phone number.
