Swine flu is the latest pandemic that alarms the people across the world. The highly contagious nature of this disease has made it a nightmare for many. Even now the exact cure for this flu is not developed. In order to reduce the intensity of this frightful epidemic, we must look out for the methods to reduce its infectivity.
According to the latest reports, Japanese government is planning to glue up mobile phone technology and GPS to track the diseased and also to make the public aware of the contaminative medium of Swine Flu. Japanese government and the leading mobile operator, Softbank has planned to conduct a trial test on one thousand elementary school students.
The main motive of this dummy run is to find out the flu victims; if proven successful this can be an effective measure to prevent swine flu outbreak. The selected pupils for this test can continue their normal routine, however they will be provided with a GPS phone. Swine flu victims are also included in the chosen thousand candidates. The GPS test can give the exact information about the number of people being exposed to the flu due to each diseased person.
The basic idea of this trial run is to warn people about the risk of exposure. Since the swine flu was spread across the globe due to its highly contagious nature, the test personnel believe that it can be restricted to a considerable extent by reducing the contact to the exposed people. Softbank official said that the rate of flu victims is increasing in manifold due to the widespread nature. The official expressed that if this spread rate is decreased even by a small amount; it may hinder the overall outbreak of this illness.
The project is in the planning stage. Even though, the potential of this test is clear, there are legal issues in monitoring people constantly. Softbank spokesman told that this test trial may give better results than TamiFlu.
