How to make Steamed salmon using your mobile phone: Jamie’s 20-Minute Meals
by Mobilemaniac on 15 October, 2009
Mobile phones have entered the kitchen! Yes, now your mobile phone can guide you through a dish of Steamed salmon with tomato basil couscous. All you have to do is download an application called Jamie’s 20-Minute Meals. Once that’s done, TV chef Jamie Oliver will talk you through the recipe, even telling you the best way to chop. Available for Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch, this software costs about £4.99 and contains 50 recipes, which according to Oliver can be cooked within 20 minutes.
Jamie’s 20-Minute Meals has clearly illustrated each step of the recipe with voice prompts from Jamie. It also includes an easy-to-use shopping list, over 90 minutes of exclusive Jamie video, comprehensive kitchen essentials guide with tips on chopping and knife maintenance, more than 1000 high resolution step-by-step photos, intuitive animated interface and a search tool that lets you search for a recipe using the category or keyword.
According to Oliver, these 20 minute recipes are better than takeaways, given the taste and time taken to make. It is also worth mentioning that supermarkets like Tesco and Ocado have also launched iPhone applications allowing customers to order groceries online. But then, Jamie’s application is rather unique, for once installed, it does not require an internet connection. So, ready to make Eton mess with toasted almonds? Alright then, the ingredients required are: ½ pint whipping cream, toasted almond slices and most importantly, your iPhone!
