HTC Touchscreen Phone Touchscreen Interface In Mobile PhonesTouch screen interface in mobile phones is not a new concept. Efforts to implement touch screen interface in cellular phones started more than 15 years ago. Earlier attempts to incorporate the idea could not succeed due to some sort of non-compatibility between the software and hardware. Early models were also found inconvenient to carry by the users because of their sizes. At a later stage, when iPhone came out with touch screen interface, the system was recognized as an essential feature for smart phones. But there were some reservations about their complete efficacy by a section of the consumers. But experience taught users that touch screens are very sensitive. iPhone could eliminate the problems of compatibility between software and hardware and could effect complete integration between the two.

When iPhone could achieve consumer acceptance and its popularity became an unquestioned reality, many other handset manufacturers started introducing touch screen interface in their brands of mobile phones. Another leading manufacturer is planning to introduce shortly their smart phone with touchscreen interface and with GPS. The new product also features widescreen format and finger print recognition. Many innovative models are in the pipeline. Some of them feature fast dialing capability as well as easier navigation. The advantage of touch screen interface is that the device will have no physical key board. As in the case of iPhone the touch screen facilitates easier operations of the mobile phones which features camera, text messaging and visual voice mail.

The most important aspect of touch screen interface is its flexibility. It enables the user to avoid mouse or touch pad in the process of different operations. Modern products feature 3.2 inches widescreen display and 16:9 aspect ratio among many other consumer friendly factors. Innumerable models and brands of smart phones are now available in the market for consumers to choose from. Despite the popularity of touch screen interface in the contemporary market, only fifty percent of the market share goes to this innovative version. There are still a section of the consumers who feel that many of the handsets with touch screen interface available today, are slow as well as difficult to use. Further rapid typing is not possible in the smart phones with touch screen interface. However, mobile phone with touch screen interface is emerging as a winner in the market, slowly but steadily. iPhone could open the floodgates as far as the market fortunes of the products which feature touch screen interface.
