A2DP Technology For Music Mobile Phones

by Mobilemaniac on 11 February, 2009

The innovative technology, Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) makes it possible to transfer data from mobile phone to another device like stereo headset without the help of cables. This novel facility of streaming data or music from one device to another is effected through the adoption of Bluetooth technology.

The modern consumer is now free from the burden of carrying portable system to enjoy music. It is enough if the consumer is having devices which are compatible with Bluetooth technology as well as A2DP enabled. The mobile phone which is now having multifarious functions has added one more utility value to its credit. Mobile phones are made capable of transferring data to headphones or portable speakers without the help of cables. The A2DP together with Bluetooth technology enable the mobile phone to provide audio or video stream to another device, if it is also compatible with the above dual technologies. Consequently the mobile phone has become a gadget to provide music like many other conventional electronic devices which are portable.

A2DP technology has made impacts on the consumer electronic markets in a big way. The dealers are offering headsets supported by Bluetooth technology as free gifts to customers who purchase mobile phones which are A2DP enabled. The new marketing strategy has paid rich dividends. According to surveys, Bluetooth headsets segment could achieve about twenty percent growth in the American market. Experts find this upsurge due to two reasons. The first one is the declining cost of Bluetooth chips and secondly because of the streaming music from mobile phones. Emergence of A2DP has caused remarkable changes in the consumer preferences. Spiraling demands for mobile phones all over the world is bound to accelerate, in its new role as a music device. Already about 100 million mobile phones are supported by the Bluetooth technology. Many mobile phone manufacturers are marketing their brands of Bluetooth headsets.

But the consumers should exercise caution while choosing the products. Many experts have cautioned enthusiastic shoppers that some of the Bluetooth mobile phones, PDAs and MP3 players do not support A2DP technology. It is therefore necessary to ascertain whether the products are compatible with the relevant technology. Most of the Bluetooth devices like PCs and Laptops will support A2DP. The shoppers have to refer the manuals available with the products to make sure that devices concerned are compatible with A2DP and Bluetooth technologies.
