Opting for a mobile phone made by a leading LCD TV maker has it’s own advantages. Say, you get displays that come with technologies found in their TVs. The Toshiba K01 Mobile Phone has a 4.1” AMOLED touchscreen that simply gleams, and according to Toshiba, the display has been sprinkled with a little bit of magic found in the Toshiba Regza LCD TVs. So, its quality has got to be excellent.
The K01 looks very appealing – with a smooth, svelte finish and a QWERTY that slides out smoother than one would expect. The keys don’t seem comfortable though, for they’re a little too flat. The Toshiba K01runs on a Windows Mobile 6.5 OS, so you can enjoy access to Microsoft Exchange, Pocket Office and other aspects that are unique to Windows Mobile.
The handset comes pre-installed with several applications such as YouTube and Facebook, accessing which in the large screen should be a sheer pleasure. The camera though, is not all that good – it appears to be a basic 3.15MP one that lacks flash, now this is so unlike a smartphone! The K01 has a good enough music player and you can download as many songs you like and also play with Windows Marketplace app store, for the internal memory can come up to up to 32GB (with the help of microSD cards ofcourse!)
The Toshiba K01 Mobile Phone doesn’t seem like it’s going to win a lot of hearts, but let’s wait and see. We don’t have news on pricing and availability,but we reckon it’ll be launched sometime later this year.
Toshiba unveiled TG01 Touchscreen Smartphone

You all have already had a peep at the Toshiba TG01 Touchscreen Mobile Phone a few days back. Now it has been officially launched by Toshiba at the Mobile World Congress that was held in Barcelona during 16th and 19th of February. Now the complete specification of this Smartphone is out. The outstanding feature of this phone is its 1GHz Qualcomm QSD8250, which is believed to be two times faster than the standard processors found in windows mobiles. It comes with 256 MB RAM.
This Smartphone has a large high resolution touchscreen display of 4.1” with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels supporting 262k colours. Toshiba has incorporated its REGZA technology to enhance the display. This technology has been used in Toshiba’s popular TVs. It is a slim phone measuring 129 x 70 x 9.9mm. This mobile phone runs on Windows Mobile 6.1.
The back side of the Toshiba TG01 Windows Smartphone sports a 3.2 megapixel auto focus camera. It also comes equipped with GPS along with support for A-GPS. It has numerous add-on applications. This quad band phone is loaded with HSDPA 7.2 Mbps that enables high speed downloads. Wifi and Bluetooth connectivity enhances the the mobiles usability. Its battery offers a talk time of 5 hours and standby time of 11 days.
This Bluetooth mobile phone is equipped with a multimedia player, web browser and supports push email, that enables you to receive emails as soon they come into your inbox. It has slot for memory cards. The phone is available in two exciting colours – ‘Deep Black’ and ‘Vivid White’. It is quite a handy phone that can easily slide in to your pocket. To make a call and answer a call you just need to shake it. The future of this iPhone contender seems to be bright. Let us wait and watch.

The television expert, Toshiba now brings to you the slimmest and fastest touchscreen smartphone – Toshiba TG01 Smartphone. It claims to be the next contender to the throne of Apple iPhone 3G. It is a superslim handset and is packed with the some of the technology used in Toshiba’s Regza TVs. It flaunts a large 4.1” touch sensitive display. There is no keyboard and the screen is quite similar to the Apple iPhone and HTC Touch HD.
This mobile phone operates on Windows Mobile 6.1. It is incorporated with HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and 1Ghz Qualcomm processor . This Snap Dragon processor consumes lesser power and hence has a long lasting battery life. HSDPA enables high speed data transfer. It is much faster than 3G. Hence, you can browse the web, download files, watch videos and do much more with greater ease.
Toshiba TG01 Bluetooth Mobile Phone is 9.9mm thick, is very handy and can easily slide into pocket. To answer a call or to hang up, you can just shake the phone. This is possible with the G-sensor in the mobile phone. Toshiba is supposed to have utilised its television expertise for this mobile phone’s screen. This smartphone is loaded with 512MB internal memory and it also includes microSD card reader that can support up to 32GB cards. It will be launched in a few days at the Mobile World Congress to be held at Barcelona, Spain. It will be available in both Black and White colours.
With its large touchscreen and superslim design, this Toshiba mobile phone really seems to be a tough contender to the iPhone.
