Palm Pre Plus Smartphone
January 16, 2010
Palm Pre was one of the hottest selling mobile phones of 2009. Many of the mobile phone enthusiasts reviewed it as a bold competitor for Apple iPhone. Now Palm is once again in the arena with Palm Pre’s modified edition, Palm Pre Plus. It was showcased at the latest CES 2010. This advanced version scores with double the memory of its original. Its numerous applications that run on Palm’s WebOS operating system can definitely offer the user with the simplest, yet functional performance.
Palm Pre Plus has not changed much from its predecessor in terms of design and it employs the same 3.1 inches multi-touch screen display of 320 X 480 pixels. It measures 59.5mm wide, 100.5mm high, 16.95mm thick and weighs around 138.5 grams. The slide-out touch QWERTY keyboard aids you to enter the texts easily. And of more interest, Palm Pre Plus is Touchstone charging compatible. The touchstone technology not only aids you to charge the mobile phone, but you can also watch videos or make hands-free calls, while docked on the touchstone. This requires a touchstone back cover and a charging dock (both are sold separately).
The focal point in Palm Pre Plus Touch Screen Mobile Phone is its operating system, Palm WebOS. Grouping multiple applications together at one place is the main asset of this operating system. It gathers contacts and calendar information from places such as Facebook, Google, Yahoo and so on, and display them together. It synchronizes the contacts of the same person from various accounts. Besides, search, updates or notifications can be handled easily with this operating system.
Palm Pre Plus comes equipped with a 3 mega pixels camera with LED flash. The extended depth-of-field offered allows the user to capture pictures with good wide angle view. Moreover, geo-tagging is possible in it. This lets the user to mark the location of the still photograph, from where it has taken. Palm Pre Plus has a media player capable to play back files in MP3, AAC, AAC+, WAV, AMR, eAAC+ and QCELP formats. It can play back videos in MPEG-4, H.263, H.264 formats as well. The 3.5mm stereo headphone jack provides a crisp and clear audio quality. There is a built-in GPS in Palm Pre Plus to guide you to the destination.
Palm Pre Plus 3MP Camera Mobile Phone has a good user memory of 16GB available for storage. You can extend this further using a memory card. Regarding the connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi, bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB. The battery life of Palm Pre Plus stands for a talk-time of 5.5 hours or for a stand by time of 350 hours. Currently, Palm Pre Plus works on CDMA network and ready for its launch on January 25th on Verizon Wireless network. But for sure, it will head to UK soon.
Palm Pixi Multi-Touch Screen Mobile Phone
November 5, 2009
Palm Pixi, which confirmed its launch in UK this November could be said to be the thinnest Palm Mobile Phone. Unlike its bro Palm Pre which is a slider phone, Palm Pixi is a Candy Bar Mobile Phone. With a dimension of 55mm (w) X 111mm (h) X 11mm (d) and a weight of 99.5gms, Pixi is smaller when compared to Pre. But, Palm Pre scores when it comes to the CPU. Palm Pixi is coming out with a Qualcomm MSM7627 processor, which is less powerful than the 600MHz Cortex-A8 employed in Palm Pre. This low powerful chipset indicates that multi-tasking may not be so smooth in new Pixi as in Pre.
Both the models, Palm Pixi and Palm Pre works on WebOS operating system. This allows Pixi to perform multi-tasking (may not be smooth as we said earlier) and comes with powerful set of applications. Palm Pixi employs a wide connectivity including 3G, Blue tooth 2.1, EDR with A2DP or A-GPS. The absence of Wi-Fi cannot be said to be disappointment in Palm Pixi as long as you have 3G access of unlimited data package. The memory of Pixi too may not disappoint you much. It comes with an 8GB memory within which 7GB memory is user available. A digital camera of 2 mega pixels resolution is integrated into it, and this comes with an LED flash and an auto focus facility.
Palm Pixi 8GB Mobile Phone supports audio formats including MP3, AAC, AAC +, AMR, QCLP and WAV formats, and video formats of MPG-4, H.263, H,264. The 3.5mm stereo headphone jack and the audio quality is also said to be handsome as Pre. The display of this mobile phone is something where you tend to be stuck with, but it provides a decent view with 2.65 inches of multi-touch screen that supports 18-bit colour. The screen resolution is 320 X 400 pixels. The QWERTY key board integrated into its small size is slightly raised when compared to Pre. But this actually is a blessing to Pixi because the higher stand makes it easier to use the keyboard.
As a bonus, Pixi comes with Face book and Twitter integration. This is where Pre fails as it doesn’t owns the integration with these social networking sites. But in future, there may be a chance of software updation that makes Pre supportive to these too. The back cover of Pixi could be removed and altered as your fashion consciousness, which could make this mobile phone more popular among the fashion crazy social networkers. Above all, Palm Pixi is less expensive when compared to Palm Pre. In short, Palm Pixi is a lighter version of Palm Pre with some slight feature changes.

Apple iPhone comes with wide range of applications compared to Palm Pre; however the sophisticated OS helps Palm to score over Apple. Palm Pre Touchscreen Mobile Phone
March 18, 2009
Palm Pre 3G Mobile Phone comes with a powerful web OS, 3MP camera with flash, 3G, GPS and full QWERTY keypad. With its great looks and impressive features, it looks every inch a contender for the iPhone’s crown. Its new flashy OS makes will give jitters to the Blackberry Storm and T-Mobile G1.
Its a multi-tasker that can simultaneously run several applications and can be minimized as cards on your desktop. It is equipped with tilt sensors and multi-touch controls. Its a fact that Palm was under heavy criticism as it was lacking in the innovation front and hence was struggling to keep up with the competition. But with the release of this Palm Pre Bluetooth Mobile Phone, it tries to prove its might.
The main highlight of this best mobile phone is the operating system and user interface. The interface has been devised with a lot of thought. With the various swiping gestures and animated motions, it might look similar to the HTC’s TouchFlo interface. Everything works seamlessly together to give you a rich experience.
With its Deck of Cards feature you can scroll through various applications, you can toggle between them and there is absolutely no need to open and close windows. Its 3.1” multi touch screen comes with half-VGA (320 x 480) resolution. The full QWERTY keypad has small but well spaced buttons, a feature quite interesting for huge texters. The keypad looks similar to Palm’s Treo Pro. To zoom in and out of web pages, you can just pinch the touchscreen, a feature very similar to that of the iPhone.
The multimedia feature of Palm Pre Mobile Phone is the 3 megapixel camera. The disappointing part is that it does not have video recording capability. For music, it has partnered with Amazon Music Store. It comes with 8GB integrated storage space, Bluetooth, WiFi and high speed USB 2.0. Ultimately, with this Palm Pre Mobile Phone you get the best of both the worlds.
