HTC HD Mini Mobile Phone
February 27, 2010
The HTC HD Mini is part of the clichéd tradition of launching mini versions of handsets that made it big. As the little brother of our favourite HTC HD2, this mobile phone has a lot to prove. After all, equipped with the Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional operating system the big boy has shown that he’s very capable. How many heads will his mini version turn? Well, we’re going to have to wait till April for that, though.
This HTC smartphone mirrors quite a lot of features of the HD2. To start off with, it is equipped with GPS and a digital compass and runs on a Windows Mobile 6.5.3 operating system. The handset makes use of the HTC Sense user interface and houses a 5MP camera with auto-focus. The display is a 3.2” HVGA touchscreen, unlike the 4.3” 480 x 800 pixel display of the HD2 we simply loved. Oh, well something’s got to be cut down. Talking of cut down, the HD Mini has just a 600MHz Qualcomm 7227 processor unlike the immensely powerful 1GHz processor of it’s bro.
The HTC HD Mini is a 3.5G device and supports Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi. The mobile handset is equipped with Windows Media Player, a 3.5mm audio socket and also supports social networking. Furthermore, this mobile phone has 384 MB of RAM and the memory can be expanded to a massive 32 GB with the help of MicroSD cards. Adding more flavour to it are the likes of the animated weather wallpaper that can reflect the weather of the place one is present in and the ringer that can mute itself when the handset is flipped face down and HTC Footprints.
Verdict:
The HTC HD Mini appears really promising. Well equipped and well designed, we’re probably looking at a straight winner.
HTC Legend Mobile Phone
February 21, 2010
HTC Legend is one among the three Android mobile phones announced at the MWS 2010. The big brother of Hero, HTC Legend Android Mobile Phone is all about class and functionality. The phone has everything – good looks, a neat OS, interesting applications, generous memory and what not. Coming in a combination of black and aluminum, this handset is supposedly carved out of a single piece of aluminum. Cool, huh? But wait, before you wonder if the metal would obstruct the signal, let me add that all the important sections are housed inside the black plastic casing, a move that does a lot for the aesthetics as well
This latest hand set from HTC is sports the same 3.2” display that Hero had, but the trackball is a funky optical one that has a clickable surround. Furthermore, the HTC Legend 3.5G Mobile Phone supports WiFi and Bluetooth, apart from USB connectivity. The usual additions such as FM Radio, multimedia player and 3.5mm audio socket. The handset comes with a 600 MHz Qualcomm 7227 processor and has an ample internal memory of 384MB which can also be extended using MicroSD cards.
“Friend Stream” is an interesting feature that forms an assemblage of updates of friends from social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and many more. Legend is equipped with an advanced 5MP camera that comes with geo-tagging along with flash and autofocus. Can’t wait to get your hands on this phone? Well, you might have to wait for a few months, for it’s slated to be released sometime around the first quarter. And if you can’t wait that long, you can check out our mobile phone deals for something as good as Legend itself, or may be even better.
Verdict:
HTC Legend is legendary – This pretty much sums it up.
HTC Desire Mobile Phone
February 21, 2010
Desire – what a groovy name for a mobile phone, huh? Well, the name belongs to an HTC Android smartphone that was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona this year. To begin with, HTC Desire has all the ingredients to make it a huge success. And yes, part of it depends on the pricing, of which we don’t have information, but we’re sure it’ll be pricey. One among the three smartphones announced at the MWC, HTC Desire looks nice, with a sleek build and other HTC touches. Though pretty close to Nexus One, Desire is different in its own way.
HTC Desire Camera Mobile Phone runs on Android 2.1 OS, but makes use of HTC’s Sense user interface instead of Android’s standard one. Desire has a 3.7” 800 x 480p AMOLED multitouch display which is extremely clear, not to mention the brightness. Coupled with the powerful 1GHz Snapdragon processor, internet browsing is one heck of an experience. This smartphone houses a respectable multimedia player and a 5MP camera that comes with autofocus and flash.
This sleek HTC smartphone has quite a lot of interesting additions that are worth exploring. For example, to look up a word in the dictionary or search for a term in Wikipedia, all you have to do is long-press it to bring up the selection bar. And in case you wish to translate a chunk of lines, just select them and send them over to Google Translate. Desire has so many of these juicy little goodies. The internal memory is a more than adequate 576 MB of RAM and the memory can be further expanded using MicroSD cards. The 1400 mAh battery housed is pretty powerful as well, offering a talktime of 6.5 hours and a 15 day standby time.
Verdict:
HTC Desire has so much to offer – right from a good load of applications to a powerful processor, large bright screen and a decent 5MP camera. If priced right, it could sell like hot cakes.
HTC Dazzles with Desire, Legend and HD Mini Smartphones at MWC 2010
February 18, 2010
Haven’t you heard of HTC Bravo? Innumerable online leaks outs and snaps have already made this mobile phone a popular one. It has finally got unveiled at the current Mobile World Congress 2010, happening at Barcelona, but with a new name, HTC Desire.

At a glance, HTC Desire is another Nexus One with HTC’s Sense interface. The same 3.7 inches AMOLED display with multi-touch capability, 1GHz Snapdragon processor and Android 2.1 found in Nexus One are featured in HTC Desire. There is an addition of HTC’s sense user interface that will offer you with improved widgets. Most pieces of information are displayed on the main screen and are easily accessible. Besides, there are some hidden applications on the main screen. A spotted difference in it is the inclusion of an optional joystick, instead of the traditional trackball.
Another new HTC launch at Mobile World Congress 2010 is HTC Legend. It resembles HTC Hero, by many means. The design is pretty smooth and curved, and is made with an aluminium body. Similar to Desire, the trackball is replaced by a joystick in Legend. Other notable features include a 3.2 inches AMOLED display of HVGA resolution, enhanced HTC user interface and a better processor.
The next on the dais is HTC HD Mini. This is a windows mobile phone, running 6.5.3 version. It measures to the size of HTC Touch, but offers the similar user experience as in HTC HD2. This phone stands out in the crowd with a yellow interior once you remove the back panel (Any guess why it has featured a yellow colour inside?). Unlike the normal handsets, you can even spot four screws behind. Unique. Right? Feature-wise, it comes with a 3.2 inches capacitive display, a 600MHz processor, a 3G capability, a Wi-Fi connection and an HTC sense interface.
Regarding their availability in the market; HTC Desire will hit the stores by Q2. HTC Legend and HD Mini will be shipped in April, probably through Vodafone. However, HTC has not revealed the price details.
Just Don’t Overlook HTC Droid Eris this Christmas
December 24, 2009
This is for those who missed to notice HTC Droid Eris, which launched almost the same time as of the much hyped Motorola Droid. Comparatively, Eris costs lower and probably, comes with better features. Moreover, this android 1.5 based HTC smartphone is a slim beauty compared to the bigger Droid. It measures just 4.5 inches long, 2.19 inches wide, 0.51 inches thick and weighs around 4.23 ounces. The capacitive touch screen of this mobile phone measures 3.2 inches and has a resolution of 320 X 480 pixels. With a vibrant view of images, sharp readable texts and high responsiveness, the display of Eris is simply awesome.
HTC Droid Eris Android 1.5 Mobile Phone does not come with a hardware keyboard, but there is a smart on-screen keyboard, which could be said to be one among the best performing virtual keyboards. The multi-touch pinch and zoom is where it scores next, when compared to Motorola Droid. This makes the web browsing much simpler and easier. Other than the touch interface, the trackball navigation of this android phone too works well, offering precise navigation through the web pages. A handful of applications are available in Eris, including weather applications (Motorola Droid don’t provide this), world clock, Teeter game, Peep (Twitter application) and many more. You can even access more applications through the Android market.
The contact management of this HTC Droid Eris is another notable feature. It will synchronize the phone contacts with the social network contacts and e-mail accounts. Regarding the connectivities, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and A2DP are available in it. There is a 5MP built-in camera in it with an auto focus facility that provides a decent picture quality. Plenty of editing options are provided to fine tune your capture. The video recording of the phone is also excellent. There is an attractive album application as well. You can easily share the photos and videos via social networking sites and multimedia messaging.
The multimedia player of HTC Droid Eris 5MP Camera Phone supports various file formats including MIDI, M4A, QCP, AMR, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WAV, WMA, MP3, EVRC-B, MPEG4, H.263, H.264 and WMV. The in-built phone memory is 512MB ROM and 288MB RAM, which is expandable using a microSD memory card. You can download songs and store them on the SD memory card. Eris has a battery life of 214 minutes talk time and 373 hours of stand by time.
Probably, the only place where Eris scores less when compared to Droid is its smaller screen and slower processor. This may not be a problem, if your requirements are not so higher. The web pages are loaded faster and no much issues with the call quality as well. Overall, it is an able competitor, as well as a cheaper mobile phone when compared to Motorola Droid. The last minute Christmas shoppers can definitely consider grabbing one for yourself!
