Nokia 6303 Classic Mobile Phone

September 10, 2009

Nokia 6303 Classic-mobilephonereviews.orgThe lady barged in with a huge shopping bag that overflowed with eatables of all kinds. “Quick!” She bellowed at the first sales-man she could grab hold of. As luck would have it, it was good old Duncan. “I need to buy a Nokia mobile phone right now!” Duncan said nothing, and waited for her to settle down. She looked so comically harried that he couldn’t help but smile. “Ma’am, please, please sit down. Now what features are you looking for?” She stared at him incredulously for a moment and blurted, “Well, how would I know? It’s for my boy-friend!” With practiced professionalism, Duncan said, “Yes, ma’am.” and thought of a few models to show her while he tried best not to look annoyed. “A Nokia would be nice” said the lady behind his back and Duncan turned and asked, “Nokia? Right. Anything else?” When she shook her head, Duncan brought out several models to show her. She finally settled for the Nokia 6303 Classic candybar mobile phone.

She kept looking at her watch frantically every now and then, when Duncan said, “We’ll settle for this, then?” “Well, brief me on the features mister!” Duncan sighed inaudibly, for he had already told her everything minutes back. “The Nokia 6303 Classic camera mobile phone by all means will please Nokia buffs. It looks good, doesn’t it, Ma’am? You can choose from Steel Silver or Matte Black. Both look great. I’ll vote for the steel silver because, the contrast brought out by the keypad and the silver body looks groovy.” The lady simply stared at Duncan without even a nod of the head. But Duncan went about his job, unperturbed. “The set is so slim, and is as light as a phone can get, at 96g.”

Nokia 6303 Classic-mobilephonereviews.orgThe display is TFT of a good 2.2″ size with a 320 x 240 pixels resolution. It has a 3.2 mega pixel camera – it actually is a very nice camera ma’am. It has a 8x digital zoom, has autofocus ability and comes with a dual LED flash. You even have a full-screen viewfinder and a nice set of capture and scene modes. Video recording at up to 15 fps is allowed ma’am.” Duncan paused while the lady yawned with her mouth wide open. Duncan almost screamed. “Go on, go on” she motioned and Duncan gritted his teeth.

If you’re the musical type, then you’ll be happy to know that the Nokia 6303 has a built-in music player with support for MP3, MP4, AAC, AAC+ enhanced, H.263 and H.264 formats. FM radio with RDS support is there too. Connectivity wise, this phone has Bluetooth, EDGE and GPRS. What else? Um…yes, it has a 17 MB internal memory and has a microSD memory card slot, so you can expand it to about 4 GB. So, you could store a good few hundred pictures and songs. And, Nokia Maps is an interesting addition. Well, that’s about the key features of the Nokia 6303, ma’am. Anything else that you want to know?” The lady shrugged and pursed her lips. “We’ll pack this then?”

Freeze!-mobilephonereviews.orgThe lady nodded and stood up. In a flash, she pulled out a black pistol from inside her mackintosh. “Freeze!” she whispered. “You move, I’ll shoot. Don’t you breathe. Now, gimme that phone.” Duncan stared at her in disbelief. His mind raced while she grinned wide, showing tobacco stained teeth. My, did she look ugly! He then shrugged and casually slipped the box into her bag. While she walked out in quick strides, he dialed 999, his heart beating frantically. The entire episode happened in a flash that hardly anyone noticed it. “Hey! Duncan, why in the world is that lady walking out with a demo box of the 6303? Isn’t that supposed to have the dummy model inside? ” called Max from the door. “She didn’t even stop when I called out!” Duncan winked and said, “It’s all under control, dude.”

“But I know it was right HERE!!’ bellowed Duncan unto the quivering form of Riley. “How can you possibly say you don’t know??!!” Duncan crossed the room and pulled the doors of the cupboard apart with such force that the doors tottered at the hinges. He pulled the insides and tossed them about, his jaws clenched. “You have no idea how important those are! You are so dead Riley.” Riley moved about anxiously, lifting books and pillows to see if he was lucky enough to spot it. The raw anger in Duncan’s voice, and his dour form made him shiver. He then slipped out of the room, only to be met by Pat, whose face was flushed red. She was standing with her lean frame rested on the door and bursted out laughing, seeing the expression in Riley’s face.

“What….god…” she couldn’t even speak, bouts of uncontrollable laughter seemed to choke her. Riley, at first amused, got rather annoyed and yelled “What the heck looks so funny, huh? Girls!!!” Pat, whose laughter seemed to be sparked off even more by Riley’s sudden burst, came forward to hold his arm. Riley pulled it away, like she was some untouchable. “You’re crazy!” “Hey, hey cool it Riley boy! Dunc’s pen-drive is with me.” Riley gaped at her for a second, then smiled as realisation struck him. “So it’s you folks eh? Hiding away Duncan’s stuff! His mobile phone? “With Kev” “Camcorder?” “David” “Wallet?” “Maggie.” Riley smiled wider, but sobered up a little and said “But I do feel sorry for that dude. He’s all worked up.” “Let him, let him. That’s the whole idea.” Saying this she whispered something to him and the two of them scampered off to the streets.

The clock was about to strike 12, and the world was enrobed in peace, if only temporarily. Duncan was moving about the room, tearing his hair apart. He was convinced that he was robbed, perhaps a burglar found his way into the room when he was away at the store. But how come he was the only one to be robbed? Thus he debated whether he should lodge a complaint with the police or if he should look for clues as Sherlock Holmes would, when the door was knocked. “Tap Tap Tap” Duncan hesitated. Was it the burglar? Was he back for something else? “Tap Tap Tap” He seized a cricket bat, and opened the door, ready to strike.

The door creaked and complained loudly, and opened to total darkness. A black form moved in a flash and threw itself onto him. Duncan fell back, startled. “Happy Birthday Duncan!” Several forms moved into view and thrusted boxes into his hands. The black form revealed itself to be Pat, who was in the prettiest dress he had ever seen. It took several minutes for him to realise what was happening. He was dragged into the room and a huge pie was smashed across his face. “Hey!!” Duncan yelped and resisted at first, but gave in in the end. He then remembered that it was the 19th of April, his 26th birthday! David, Riley, Pat, Kevin and Maggie stood around him beaming. “Happy 86th birthday, dude.” said David and Duncan evinced his best smile possible. He was on top of the world, he felt his life was indeed worth all the trouble, what with such great friends he had made.

He unwrapped the boxes to find his old camcorder, mobile phone and pen-drive replaced with sparkling new ones. “So it’s you guys!!” he exclaimed and Pat came forward to kiss him, “We’re sorry Duncan.” With lots of drinks and cakes in store, the five of them partied till 3 in the morning. Pat stayed back, and Duncan and herself sat at his balcony, chatting about everything under the sun. Duncan was exploring his gifts, of which the LG KB770 mobile phone was his favourite. “This is my selection” said Pat. “Mmm” said Duncan, surveying it. “Is it better than my previous one?” “Ofcourse! It’s the perfect mobile phone for you. I knew you’ll love the glossy, sleek build. It has a digital TV tuner, you know.”

“What? Really?” “Yes” went on Pat. “It can pick up free-to-air digital TV broadcasts. The camera is a 3.2 megapixel one, it supports HSDPA, GPRS and stereo Bluetooth.” “I see it has a microSD card slot.” remarked Duncan. “And USB connectivity too.” Pat nodded and said “It’s just 13.2mm thick.” “Wow, nice touchscreen, what, is it about 3 inches?”

“Exactly. The images look nice, right? The screen has a 400 x 240 pixel resolution and 262,000 colours. It’s a mini TV, you know. Features a DBV-H TV receiver and TV out functionality, so -” “So I can view everything in the mobile phone in a TV screen” interjected Duncan. “There is 3G” went on Pat, a little peeved with Duncan’s interjection. “What is the memory capacity?” “It’s a good 100MB – I know you’ll love me for this – it can be expanded to a whopping 8GB!” Duncan beamed, even in the dim light of the balcony, Pat could make out Duncan’s admiration building up for her gift. “You see the other secondary camera up front?” “Video calling.” stated Duncan.

He took a snap of her with the camera and saw that there was no flash, though the auto-focus and video recording features impressed him. “It has a document viewer!” said Duncan who was starting to like the KB770 very much. “Yes.” said Pat, proud of her choice. “Organiser is there too. So you can store your business stuff. There’s an email client, web browser and the usual SMS and MMS facilities. “Is it a GSM device?” “Tri-band with WCDMA 2100.” came the reply. “The talk time, Duncan is upto 4 hours and the standby time is about 300 hours.” “Let me guess, the weight…..um..is 100 grams or so?” “Wow Duncan, it’s 109 g!” replied Pat admiring Duncan for the umpteenth time.

The moon peeped from behind the clouds, he was jealous, for he did not have a woman as beautiful as Pat next to him. “It’s great Pat.” said Duncan. “I absolutely love it. Thank you.” saying this, he kissed her, and the moon hid behind the clouds, absolutely embarrassed.

The girl seemed to be in her early twenties, with long brown hair that curled around the edges. Duncan noticed her the minute she entered the bus. It was almost empty, excepting a few women in the front. She walked with soft strides and settled next to a lady who was dozing off. She then took out her mobile phone with earphones plugged in and entered her own world, into which she seemed to be as absorbed as water in a sponge. Duncan smiled and turned to the window, there was a slight drizzle outside and the world seemed to be taking a merry shower. “Doesn’t that look swell?” said a grubby looking man, who came out of nowhere and sat next to him. “Excuse me?” asked Duncan, a little taken aback. “The mobile phone, I mean.” added the man with a mean snigger. Duncan ignored him and turned his face away, he didn’t like the looks of the creep. “I sure wish the seat next to her was empty.” he went on, more to himself. He reeked of alcohol and cigarette that it overwhelmed Duncan. “Could do well with a new mobile phone. Ah, there! Now she’s alone.” The lady next to her rose as her stop arrived, and before the drunk could move, Duncan seized him by his collar and almost jumped to the seat next to the girl, who stared at him, startled. “Excuse me.” he said. “Was just er…looking for some fresh air. Was er…getting a bit stuffy behind.” Her face broke into a pleasant smile, and Duncan relaxed. After a few mundane exchanges, he asked, “ Isn’t that the Samsung Emporio Armani Night Effect?” “Yes, it is. Here, take a look.” said she and offered her his phone that seemed brand new. “Got it a just few days back.”

With nothing else to talk about and the piqued drunk gazing at the two of them, Duncan initiated a conversation on her mobile phone, which was ofcourse a well beaten path for him. “So, I heard this mobile phone is a big hit with music-lovers. Is that true Miss Strauss? ” “Yes, that’s true. And, please call me Pat. This natty mobile phone measures about 114.9 x 47.4 x 12mm. I’m such a music freak and go for anything branded with my eyes closed….so naturally, this mobile phone filled the bill perfectly. It focuses on music, there are shortcut music buttons and AMOLED display.” “It’s smooth to touch” said Duncan, feeling the svelte candybar mobile phone. And the camera?” “It’s a 3.2Mp camera. There is no flash, but there is two-step autofocus and video-calling facility. I took some great shots with it, some decent close up ones too.”

Duncan, who knew the glossy black gadget in her hand in and out, listened with interest, for he didn’t want to dampen her spirits. “There is a 1GB microSD card to go with it, and the internal memory is just about 120MB and you can expand the memory to about 8GB. And, oh, it has 3G and Bluetooth connectivity. But I love it for its support for music. The audio quality is good, and then there is a 3.5mm headphone jack. And the fact that the music can run in the background while it performs other functions is so convenient. I have several MP3 ringtones, take a look, stored in the same folder as the songs.

“The ear-phones seem to be short.” commented Duncan. “Yes, but that’s alright with me. And, did I tell you about the talktime? It’s about 260 minutes, the standby time is 275 hours. What else? My Samsung Night Effect, Samsung M7500 to be more precise, is so funky. You know, initially, I fell for the Armani branding. I just love the looks, the LED around the edges is so cool. I’m so smitten with this phone.” She went on, animatedly. “It glows when it’s active. The number pad, look, is so smooth.. I just wish there was a phone book, though. Hey, do you listen to pop?” “No, I’m not that into music.” said Duncan. “Oh, I thought we could listen to my collection of songs. I can use two pairs of ear-phones, the Night Effect has a earphone multi-connector socket. I just adore the Emporio Armani logo. Just look at it…”
Pat

The bus slowly came to a halt, and Pat jumped from her seat and collected her things. “This is my stop. I better go, Duncan.” “Email capability and HSDPA support.” said Duncan. “What?” asked Pat, her brows furrowed. “You forgot to mention that the Emporio Armani supports HSDPA and has email capability. And that the it can be used to browse the Internet with reasonable speed and that there is a POP3 client too.”

“Hey!” Pat stared at him, her mouth slightly open. She looked so comical that Duncan bursted out laughing. “I’m so sorry Pat, I didn’t have the heart to stop you.” She smiled too, though she looked a bit hurt. “So you knew about it all along?” Duncan shrugged, and added apologetically, “Hey, I’m sorry again.” “Well, that’s okay. I hope I didn’t make a fool of myself. And, Oh, this is my stop. Bye.” Saying this she disembarked in an instant and Duncan couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed. He didn’t even get her number. “Hey! Duncan! Over here!” Duncan looked out the window to see her standing. “Hot Chocolate. Meet me there at 6.”

“Thank you son, God bless you.” smiled the little old lady and pecked Duncan’s bristly cheek. He led her into a waiting bus, made sure she got a seat and left with a wave and a smile. How he loved to see people smile, the genuine smile of gratitude. His eyes were suddenly moist, for her smile had triggered memories of his mother. In a cloud of nostalgia, he walked towards a garden gate, that stood in a state of dereliction. At first he didn’t notice them, for they were enshrouded in a cloud of dust. It took a few seconds for him to register what was happening, then he shot towards the spot like an arrow. “Boys! God, get off!!” The two kids were pulling at each other madly, grunting and punching and kicking all at once. “Let me go mister! Let me at him! I’ll show him!” With a lot of struggle, Duncan pulled them apart. But they were still growling at each other, that he said, “You both! Stop it or I’ll call an officer this instant!” At this, one of them ran like a roadrunner and was out of sight in an instant.

The other kid stared at him for an instant, shrugged and started walking. His gangly form suggested that he was in his teens and Duncan fell in step with him and said “Now what was that about?” “None of your business mister.” growled the kid, silencing Duncan. He walked on with him, hoping to cool him a bit. “Look, I’m sorry to be rude. Could you please leave me alone? That good for nothing Gavin! he, like hell busted my mobile phone!” ‘MOBILE PHONE’. At that word, Duncan knew he was in for a lengthy conversation with the lanky kid next to him. “How in the world am I going to buy myself a new one?” “The LG KS360.” said Duncan. “What? What did you say?” “It’s not all that expensive.” The kid stopped on his tracks, gave Duncan his hand and said,”I’m Sean.” “Duncan. Nice to meet you.” “So you were talking about a mobile phone?

Duncan smiled and began, “Yes, LG KS360 is a slider phone with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. It’s ideal for social networking, text messaging, instant messaging, email and MMS. It has a two megapixel camera and has Edge, GPRS and GSM connectivity. “No 3G?” asked Sean, who was now fidgeting inside his pocket. Duncan, watched him keenly, wondering if he smoked and was glad when he took out a strip of gum instead. “There is no 3G. But it provides quick access to MySpace, Facebook and Bebo. And there is also access to YouTube, Flickr and Dating Direct. But the sites you get depend on your mobile phone operator. It is a little bulky, it measures 101.5 x 51 x 16.8mm and weighs about 111.5g. “Er…Duncan, if I may ask, what is the size of the display?” “It’s about 2.4 inches, with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution, Sean. The slide-out keypad is easy to type, there is an email client and you can set up an IMAP or POP3 account. Browsing the Web is a pleasure using the KS360, you can download Opera Mini, if you wish, as it has a basic Wap 2.0 browser.

LG KS360

“It is ideal for kids your age, Sean, and is perfect for messaging. Is there anything else you want to know about?” Sean tilted his head slightly and asked, “Yes, how much is the is the built-in memory Duncan?” “It is about 15MB, you can use a a card to expand it up to 4GB. There is a microSD card slot provided. The music player is a basic one, and overall, it has an uncomplicated user-interface. And, it has a talktime of five hours and 444 hours of stand-by time. It’s a fairly basic mobile phone, Sean, but is quite good when it comes to messaging, like I already told you.”
Sean and Duncan
Sean, who listened intently, was by now out of his ruffian mode, and was rather like a child, curious to know more and more. They were at the bus-stop by then, and Sean shuffled about restlessly, the diffident nature of his adolescence taking over. “So, thanks Duncan. You, er…actually were more than just helpful. And, er…” He was struggling for words when Duncan slapped his back jauntily and said, “You’re a good kid, Sean. Just don’t pick up a fight again.” Sean smiled, his cheeks flushed, “Sure thing Duncan.”

LG KT770 Mobile Phone

February 25, 2009

KT770

The rain played havoc that day. It poured down with all might, unmindful of mankind’s loud protests. It was confused, for some welcomed it with both arms wide, while some shut it out with their black, rude umbrellas. But, it poured down nevertheless, nonchalant. Duncan parked his car at a deserted garage and ran with his hood over his head, to a tiny pub that stood strong amidst the storm. Once inside, the warmth from the many cups of drinks hugged him tight and he made for a table at the far corner. After ordering a drink, he sat looking out the window, when a rather harried woman took the seat opposite him.

He was glancing at her now and then, but after 20 minutes or so, he couldn’t hold his tongue back. ‘Excuse me, do you want help with anything? You look rather worried.’ She ignored him, and Duncan felt mightily snubbed. He cursed himself under his breath and collected his coat and started to get up. ‘I lost my purse. And it had my mobile phone in it.’ said the woman. Duncan, moved on wanting to save himself from further embarrassment. ‘I’m sorry.’ said the woman again. ‘I didn’t mean to be rude.’

‘Listen’ said Duncan taking his seat. ‘If your mobile phone is that dear to you, why don’t you try tracing it back? For instance, where did you last use it?’ ‘It fell down a gutter.’ at this Duncan smothered a chuckle and fell silent. ‘Hey, what’s so funny, Huh?’ asked the woman, now smiling tentatively. Duncan noticed that she had sapphire-blue eyes. ‘Looks like I’ll have to buy a new one.’ ‘Now, THAT is where I’ll pitch in.’ thought Duncan. ‘I can help you an that.’ ‘Really? Okay then. Go on. Lets see what you got.’ said the woman with a trace of sarcasm.

‘The LG KT770 slide mobile phone is what I propose to you to buy. ‘It’s to be launched pretty soon. I’ll give you an account of it’s features. It is a stylish sliding phone with a 2.8 inch display with a 240 x 400 pixel resolution. It measures about 111 x 52 x 16mm which is quite a medium size.’ ‘I can gather that.’ said the woman and Duncan rejoiced at her tone of annoyance. ‘You can use it for browsing and navigating with ease’ went on Duncan.rainy_day

‘The LG KT770 5 megapixel Camera mobile phone has Wi-Fi, GPS, and also supports 3.5G. The 5 megapixel camera comes with various features. It has smile shot, panoramic function and also facial recognition.’ ‘Did your old phone have such an impressive camera?’ asked Duncan. ‘I suppose not. And do you know the downloading speed?’ questioned the woman twirling a strand of her locks with a finger. ‘Yes I do.’ began Duncan. ‘It is about 7.2Mbps. It has HSDPA and quad-band GSM. The memory of the KT770 is about 1GB or 2GB and you can further expand it to about 16GB with the aid of the microSD card.

The rain outside seemed to have trickled down to an unending drizzle. But neither Duncan nor the woman ventured outside. So engrossed were they, in their conversation. ‘Does the KT770 have infrared?’ inquired the woman. ‘No, there isn’t. But it has Facebook installed in it. And then, there is a Fring client instant messaging and VOIP. There in no FM tuner, but it has a multimedia player though. And, oh, there’s QuickOffice too. Now for the interesting part. This mobile phone features Navigons MobileNavigator 7 software.’ ‘And, what is that?’ questioned the woman who now nursed a new found respect for Duncan. ‘Using this, you can navigate your way if you find yourself lost in a maze of mysterious roads.’

‘Now that looks like quite a good phone to buy.’ commented the woman. ‘Oh, my God!’ she exclaimed. ‘I’m late. Well, thank you sir, for all that information. It was a pleasure talking to you.’ saying this, she gathered her things, put on her mackintosh and rushed out without turning back. Duncan was rather taken aback, for she left him abruptly.

He signaled the waiter and ordered another drink. ‘Who do you suppose that woman was?’ asked Duncan as the waiter returned with his drink. ‘What woman?’ asked the waiter with his brows furrowed. ‘Didn’t you notice? She was sitting right next to me for the last half-an-hour. Tall, brown hair.’ The waiter stared at him, shook his head sideways and said, ‘I don’t know what you are talking about, mister. As far as I could see, you were sitting alone at the table.’ Duncan stared at him, dumb-struck, wondering if he was trying to make a fool of him. ‘You were actually talking to the empty seat in front of you.’
