Nokia X5 01 Nokia X5 01 Mobile PhoneWell now, here is an interesting introduction form Nokia – the X5-01. It’s a square slider phone with a slide-out QWERTY keymat. How often does Nokia launch square mobile phones? Not very, actually. Nokia says that this mobile phone is optimized for music and messaging, so its equipped with all the necessary fireworks. Design-wise, the Nokia X5-01 impresses – its funky and comes with a good deal of colour options such as purple, pink, graphite, azure and yellow green. However, this is a matter of opinion – we’re not sure how many fans the square design will win.

This Nokia smartphone runs on a Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 and supports 3.5G, EGPRS and WCDMA. Being projected as a messaging device, this mobile phone has SMS, IM and MMS+SMIL features and supports Ovi mail, Nokia Messaging 2.0 and Mail for Exchange, the software that lets you sync all your contacts, calendars and tasks with Exchange servers and receive push email as well. Sporting a 2.36” QVGA display, the X5-01 should be fun to browse and text.

The X5-01 comes with a pretty efficient 5MP camera with 4xdigital zoom. And of course, this one doesn’t miss out on access to Facebook and Twitter. The music player of this handset supports AAC, AAC+, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, AU, eAAC+, M4A and MIDI formats, also included in stereo FM RDS radio. User memory comes up to 200 MB and you can expand it to 32 GB using microSD cards.

Now for the most important part: cost and release date. This handset is said to cost almost £135 and is set for a Q3 2010 release in Indonesia. Hopefully, it’ll reach the UK shores soon after that. A mobile phone that’s sure to meet all the needs of the young, looks funky and costs less – that’s the Nokia X5-01 for you.

Nokia X5 TD-SCDMA Mobile Phone

May 4, 2010

nokia x5 Nokia X5 TD SCDMA Mobile PhoneHere is a rather stylish handset that Nokia has announced for the Chinese market – the Nokia X5 TD-SCDMA. Firstly, the mobile phone looks pretty ordinary – it’s slabby but with slight curves and is available in black and red scheme & black and white schemes. The Nokia X5 is a music phone, music smartphone actually, with a good lot of features such as a dedicated music key that gives easy access to CMCC music client (China Mobile Music Service) and MM-Ovi Store, which is a joint venture of China Mobile and Nokia.

Included in the device is a music player that’s capable of MP3, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA playback and a 5MP camera with dual LED flash that can capture VGA  video at up to 30 fps. The X5 has a 2.4” display and is a Symbian S60 device, offering access to a good range of applications. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 2.0 and Hi-Speed USB 2.0, not to mention a built-in GPS receiver with support for assisted GPS.

The Nokia X5 TD-SCDMA is equipped with an average 950 mAh battery that can offer seven hours of talk-time and seven days of standby time on 3G – we’re doubtful of the battery’s efficiency, though, given all the applications it has to power round the clock. The gizmo is ‘designed for music lovers and young trendsetters’ according to Nokia and also ships with support for CMCC Fetion instant messenger. The X5’s memory capacity is rather average – there’s a 256MB of on-board memory which can be expanded to 8GB.

This mobile phone is to hit the Chinese markets in the second quarter of this year. And as for a world-wide release, we don’t have any information as of now.

Nokia C6 Mobile Phone

May 3, 2010

nokia c61 Nokia C6 Mobile Phone The Nokia C6 is one among the Finnish telecommunication giant’s latest slew of social-networking phones that appears to be an improvement on the unlucky N97. The phone sounds really good on paper and hopefully, it’ll be the same on-hand. The Nokia C6 is a touchscreen mobile phone with a slide-out full QWERTY keypad and a horde of social networking and messaging functions.

It is a 3G device that runs on a Symbian^1 operating system. The Nokia C6 smartphone is Wi-Fi-enabled with an included email client and also supports Bluetooth version 2.0. The handset comes with a good 5MP camera with LED flash, autofocus and 4xdigital zoom. Furthermore, there’s support to Facebook, MySpace and Hi5, not to mention the entire range of Ovi applications and other instant messaging applications.

The C6 has a 3.2” touchscreen, in which viewing web pages should be a cinch. Nokia also lets you customize the home screen with your favourite applications. Apart from the social networking functions, the Nokia C6 also has a fine set of PC applications such as Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Organizer and Lotus Notes, in addition to support for email attachments in doc, .xls, .ppt, and .pdf formats, giving the C6 a business edge.

Music-wise, the C6 is well-furnished with the Nokia Music Player that supports MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+, eAAC and eAAC+ file formats. Given the 16 GB memory capacity and access to Ovi Music Store, there’s no limit to how much you can store in this device. Plus, there also is a music widget that you can place in the home screen leaving music literally at your finger tips. Priced at a reasonable £190, the Nokia should hit the markets sometime this year in blue and white schemes. It sounds nice, but there’s nothing new about it.

nokia x2 Nokia X2 Mobile PhoneFor all those who feel that smartphones are really not all that smart, for those who have a special thing for Nokia and for those who wish to keep their phone simple and efficient, the Nokia X2 could come across as the most perfect handset, ever. Well, this mobile phone is nothing fancy, but its sheer simplicity and Nokia’s perfect understanding of its target audience, could make it a big success. The Nokia X2 is to be initially launched in India, but it will be just a matter of time for it to reach the rest of the world.

The Nokia X2 is a low-cost music phone that comes with a fairly decent feature set. The handset is pretty thin and lightweight with a basic 2.2” QVGA display and dedicated music keys and powerful dual speakers. It has all the right things a music buff would expect – ample memory, a reliable battery, a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM stereo, access to Ovi Music Unlimited and most importantly, an efficient multimedia player that supports MP3, AAC and WMA formats.

This music phone supports 16GB of storage (the internal memory is about 48 MB) and is equipped with high-speed USB 2.0 and stereo Bluetooth connectivity. There’s a decent 5 MP on board that you can play around with, whose flash can also be used as a torch. The X2 is a GSM only device, there’s the Opera Mini browser and you can also access Facebook and Flickr using EDGE data. The X2 also lets you access Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat, not to mention Ovi Store.

The Nokia X2 music phone is available is the usual black/ red scheme and a refreshing silver/blue scheme. It looks quite nice, with the usual candy-bar form factor and soft keys. A phone that one can stick with for a long time and never regret having done that – that’s the Nokia X2 for you. We just hope it hits the UK soon. After all, for just £75, it offers quite a lot.

nokia 6700 slide Nokia 6700 Slide Mobile PhoneFor all the Nokia fans out there, the Nokia 6700 Slide could be a treat indeed. If you’re thinking that this phone has something to do with the 6700 Classic, think again. The 6700 Slide is much better, infact it’s a smartphone that runs on a Symbian version 9.3 OS. First and foremost, it must be said that this smartphone looks dandy. Coming in a variety of colour schemes such as Petrol Blue, Purple, Pink, Red, Lime and Raw Aluminum with a smooth metallic finish, the 6700 Slide is definitely an eye-catcher.

The Nokia 6700 Slide Mobile Phone has a really good camera – a 5MP with Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash and autofocus with which you can also shoot 640 x 480p video at 15 frames per second. And you can also have Ovi Share notifications sent to your home screen every time your friends comment on your shared photos.

This mobile phone has a 2.2” display (we wish it were a little bigger) which has a 240 x 320 pixel resolution. And browsing the web using the Nokia Web Browser 7.1 with the 2.2” screen isn’t exactly fun. But the home screen can be customised as per your requirement. For example, you can have your contacts displayed with pictures in the home screen, the clicking of which you will directly be taken to their messages. You can also access sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Ovi etc easily from the home page.

The Nokia 6700 Slide is a 3.5G mobile phone, with maximum download and upload speeds of 10.2 Mbps and 2 Mbps, so browsing the web should be a cup of tea.
