Nokia C5 Mobile Phone
March 14, 2010
For those of you who have had enough of touchscreen madness and QWERTY keypads that stick-out, Nokia has just the perfect answer. A candybar smartphone that’s special in more ways than one – The Nokia C5. First and foremost, the mobile phone is a breath of fresh air. It’s a simple and conventional smartphone – that’s the best thing about it. The Nokia C5 smartphone is the firstborn of the ‘C-Series‘ and is a Symbian smartphone dressed in simple overalls. But the design is by no means underwhelming, let me rush to add. It’s rather elegant, with a touch of stainless steel up front and is just 12mm thick.
The screen of the Nokia C5 Symbian mobile phone is just about 2.2” with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution. At 89 grams, the device is lightweight and sports a basic 3.2MP camera with LED flash included. The C5 (yes, the name does sound a bit funny, but we might as well get used to it. Looks like Nokia has a whole range of mobile phones ranging form C1 to C9 under its belt!) comes with support to Nokia Messaging, Ovi Maps 3.0 and a free walk and drive navigation system. No smartphone is complete without support for social networking and the C5 is no exception, for it comes with support for Facebook.
There also is a new feature included in the phone book that keeps you updated of the Facebook status of your friends. You can also select the names of three of your most contacted friends to be displayed in your homescreen for quick access. The internal memory included is just about 2GB, but you can expand it to 16GB using, you guessed it – microSD cards. Nokia say that the C5 will hit the stores during the second quarter of 2010 for £122. Cant wait, huh?
Samsung Monte S5620 Mobile Phone
February 14, 2010
Samsung is well-known for their massive production of mobile phones. They come out with innumerable models at a time, almost impossible for the whole tech-world to keep a track of them. From more quantity, Samsung has jumped onto the strategy of ‘more features for an affordable price’. Samsung Monte S5620 mobile phone seems to be one of them.
Samsung’s dexterity in designing is evident in Monte S5620 mobile phone. They have successfully altered an ordinary plastic case to an eye-catchy chassis. It employs a normal dimension of 108.8mm X 53.7mm X 12.4mm and has a weight of 3.25oz. This mobile handset works in all quad-band GSM networks and has a 3G capability as well.
Samsung Monte S5620 GSM Mobile Phone comes with a medium-sized display of resolution 240 X 400 pixels that supports 262K colours. This 3G mobile phone runs absolutely on Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, but it seems to be a refreshed version. With a horizontal arrangements of widgets and an improved functionality, Samsung’s new TouchWiz interface seems to score well. You can personalize the menu as you wish, by re-arranging the icons.
One of the greatest disappointment we could spot in Samsung Monte S5620 is the lack of a QWERTY keyboard and we could not find any reason why it has been left out. In terms of the connectivity, there is both 3G and Wi-Fi, plus a browser. We have seen this browser earlier in Samsung Jet. With support for flash, we can expect this web browser to deliver a good performance altogether. For navigational purpose, Samsung Monte S5620 comes integrated with a GPS.
Furthermore, Samsung Monte S5620 GPS Mobile Phone comes with a 3.2 mega pixels camera. Although, there is no in-built flash, Monte S5620 is housed with good camera settings for you to capture and edit images. You can shoot videos of QVGA resolution as well. The 3.5mm headset jack, an audio player, a phone book, an organizer and an extensive messaging service support are the other beneficial features found in this camera mobile phone.
Overall, Samsung Monte S5620 3.2MP Camera Mobile Phone seems to be a great option for ordinary masses. The release date and the price stays veiled, but it will be showcased during Mobile World Congress 2010, at Barcelona from 15th-18th February.

February 8, 2010
Remember our old Nokia 6303 Classic candybar mobile phone? Here comes a refreshed version of it-Nokia 6303i Classic Mobile Phone. You cannot spot too many new features in this new mobile phone, except some things like improved internal memory.

Ready to release during Q2 2010, Nokia 6303i mobile phone is designed to work in GSM networks. It supports GPRS and EDGE for data services. Within a dimension of 4.28 inches X 1.82 inches X 0.46 inches, it incorporates a 2.2 inches display of resolution 240 X 320 pixels. With a support for 16K colours, you cannot expect a breath-taking view from its display, however, let us expect a decent, colourful view of images and texts.
There is a 3.2 mega pixels camera with dual LED flash and auto focus integrated into Nokia 6303i Classic GSM Mobile Phone. Settings such as effects, digital zoom and self timer are provided as well. This camera can capture videos too, but only at a speed rate of 8fps. This means lower quality when compared to its sibling, Nokia 6303 Classic. The interface is S40, and let us hope it performs equally well as that of Nokia 6303 classic. There is a Nokia OSS web browser, with support for HTML, XHTML and WML mark up languages.

Sony Ericsson Aspen Mobile Phone
February 5, 2010
Sony Ericsson is in the pursuit to accomplish the ‘Green’ promise they made last year. We saw Elm, Hazel…and now its Aspen. Besides being a green phone, this mobile phone has another feather on its crown. It is the first smartphone to run the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 operating system.

The latest version of Microsoft’s windows mobile operating system will adorn Sony Ericsson Aspen with enhanced user-interface, which means more finger-friendly menus and touch controls. Better web browser, which ensures a faster loading of pages, smoother panning and improved memory will be the other enhancements that the Aspen will receive due to Windows 6.5.3.
Ready for the launch in the second quarter of 2010, Sony Ericsson Aspen Windows Mobile Phone promises a fast multi-tasking of applications, suitable for business class. The mobile handset, which will be available in both iconic black and white silver, features a rectangular and solid design, attractive and stylish enough to flaunt. It has a dimension of 117mm X 60mm X 12.45mm and weighs 130 grams. This Sony Ericsson mobile phone can work on all quad band GSM networks and has an extensive support for GPRS, EDGE, UMTS/HSPA (3G).
Unexpectedly, the touchscreen display of Sony Ericsson Aspen measures only 2.4 inches, and bears a QVGA resolution, 240 X 320 pixels. Also, the phone has only 100MB on-board memory, but expandable up to 16GB. Don’t know why Sony Ericsson has lessened these two, despite of claiming it as a business phone.
In terms of camera, Sony Ericsson Aspen 3G Mobile Phone has a 3.2 mega pixels camera, with a digital zoom of 4X, automatic colour and light balance, multi-shot and a self-timer. The auto focus and additional camera settings are missing as per the specification sheet(Otherwise also where is the time for business men to capture photos and edit them on phone?). However, let us wait till its release to see its performance.
Next on the board is entertainment. Sony Ericsson knows that the business people require entertainment to relax between their assiduous life. Perhaps, that is why Aspen comes with plenty of entertainment features. Media player with stereo speakers, radio, You tube, video streaming, 3D games and Facebook. What more you want?
Sony Ericsson Aspen 3.2MP Camera Mobile Phone supports text, multimedia, instant messaging and e-mail messaging services. And, you have both QWERTY keyboard and predictive text input for fast text entry. There is handwriting recognition as well. Since this windows mobile phone is housed with Wi-Fi, 3G and the latest improved windows mobile operating system, let us hope that the whole connectivity will be fast and will not drowse us. It has bluetooth and USB for local transfers.
The integration of an assisted GPS is another advantage in Aspen, that too with Google maps. This feature and the support for Microsoft Office documents, will be a real boon for business men. Besides, there is an organizer with tasks, phone book, notes, flight, calendar, calculator and many more. Sony Ericsson claims that the battery of this GPS mobile phone lasts for 10 hours talk time on 2G and eight hours on 3G. The stand by time is said to be around 450 hours on 2G and 600 hours on 3G.
Overall, Sony Ericsson Aspen seems to be a decent option suitable for most of the masses. It is housed with features that can truly fulfil the requirements of everyone, who wish to get a fast 3G mobile phone, only if you don’t wish to get a totally high-end smartphone. Performance and Price Tag?…Lets us keep our fingers crossed!
Samsung S5350 Shark Mobile Phone
January 31, 2010
If you are not eccentric about flaunting with the hi-fi of a smartphone, yet need to get a mobile phone with medium features, an appealing design and an affordable price tag, then Samsung S5350 Shark Mobile Phone is for you! It has come up with a ‘well-done’ classic, candy bar design and a metallic back cover that can definitely sparkle your eyes. The dimension of 4.54 inches X 1.84 inches X 0.47 inches, and the weight of 99 grams provides this Samsung mobile phone a solid feel, when you hold it in your hands.
Samsung S5350 Shark Mobile Phone has a 2.2 inches TFT display of QVGA resolution that supports 256K colours. The overall appeal of the images and videos displayed is attractive. This mobile handset works in quad band GSM network. Samsung S5350 has given emphasis to social networking, by providing support to major social networking websites, chat clients and so on. But, the lack of an automated e-mail set up is a pitfall in it. Relatively, the web pages are loaded faster, but the visual appearance of the pages cannot be said to be prominent.
For capturing photographs, there is a 3.2 mega pixels camera in Samsung S5350 Shark GSM Mobile Phone. Certain camera options such as face detection, white balance and beauty shot are provided in it for a fine shoot. This camera can capture videos as well. The overall performance of the camera in this GSM mobile phone is good, but the pictures taken in low light condition seem to be noisy. They lack details as well.
Regarding the connectivity features employed in Samsung S5350 Shark 3.2MP Camera Mobile Phone, there is bluetooth 2.1, 3G support for high speed connections, as well as GPRS and EDGE support. However, there is no Wi-Fi and this is not a surprise as it cannot be expected in a cheap mobile phone. Finally, another impressive feature in this 3G mobile phone is its clear and sharp loudspeaker. Obviously, the call quality is also good.
There is an internal memory of 100GB for Samsung S5350 Shark 3G mobile phone. This can be expanded further using a microSD memory card up to a maximum of 16GB. The battery life offered by this camera phone is remarkable. It gives about 10 hours of continuous talk time and 450 hours of stand by time, on a single charge. To say, Samsung S5350 is a good alternative for many of the low cost mobile phones available in the market.
