Samsung Launches Movie Store
March 23, 2009
Movie buffs now have reason to rejoice. On 19th March 2009, Samsung launched an exclusive movie store for its customers. Samsung customers will be able to download and view their favourite movies and also TV shows on a compatible Samsung phone, PC or laptop, whenever and wherever they are. It provides easy access to all the latest Hollywood movies. The customers can thoroughly enjoy the rich experience of watching movies because the store would be updated on a regular basis.
The movie store would offer more than 500 blockbusters like RocknRolla, Ironman and Dark Knight and all the hit TV series. All these can be downloaded and viewed on Samsung phones like Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition. This mobile phone has a 2.8” AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) full touch screen. The screen offers clear and vivid colours and it is a pleasure watching movies on this elegant screen. The battery of Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition, when fully charged, supports longer hours of movie viewing.
Movies can be either purchased outright or rented. A rented movie can be viewed for 24 hours within 30 days of being downloaded. The service can be accessed at www.samsungmovies.com Customers in UK and Germany can have immediate access to this facility. It will be gradually available in other European markets later this year.
Samsung is offering this service with the support of Acetrax. Acetrax, a digital movie retailer and expert in delivering premium movie content, would enable movie download service on mobile phones, IP-enabled TVs and on PCs. Acetrax owns licensing agreements with major film studios, independents and record labels to distribute music video, TV and movie titles across Europe. Samsung has struck deals with Paramount, Universal, Momentum Pictures and Warner Bros. Samsung also plans to expand this service to MP3 and MP4 players and notebooks and Samsung TVs too. With the launch of this movie store, Samsung has joined the film-offering brigade and is trying to take Apple head on.
