The mobile world is waiting with bated breath for the much hyped event of the year – GSMA Mobile World Congress, which will commence on the 16th of February in Barcelona. This event is the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile phone industry. It will witness the congregation of famous personalities from mobile phone industry like the prominent leaders, internet professionals, mobile operators and equipment vendors. This year the event is expected to be attended by approximately 50,000 people.

Miicrosoft is all set to release its Zune Mobile and also to release windows mobile 6.5, designed for latest generation fingertip controlled user interfaces. This Windows mobile 6.1 quite similar to version 6.0 with some modified applications.
Acer is planning to launch its own brand of smartphone. Samsung and LG have kept things on the down low. Another Korean firm is getting ready for the UK market – Hyundai is unveiling some of its handsets in the congress. There is no news about Motorola, but that doesn’t mean that there wont be any surprises.
Venue
This congress is to be held in Barcelona which is the capital city of Catalonia, the city with a long trading tradition. This welcoming and dynamic city is the major economic and business centre of Mediterranean Europe.
