Blackberry Bold Confronts Apple 3G
When Apple iPhone 3G was launched with a full touch sensitive screen, all the other mobile phones lost their sheen in front of it. They appeared like mini typewriters. The Apple iPhone was basking in the glory of success and domination for a long time with no competition from anyone. With the launch of Blackberry Bold, it seems that a competitor has arrived. With its myriad features, Bold has been labelled as an “iPhone Killer”.
Design and display
Blackberry Bold Touchscreen Mobile Phone comes with dimensions of (H) 127 x (W) 66 x (D) 12.7 mm. It has a touch display with a resolution of 480 x 320. In the case of Apple iPhone mobile phones the dimensions are 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.3 mm (H x W x D) and it comes with multi-touch display of 480 x 320. The common thing in both the phones, in terms of design, is that both weigh 133g.
Imaging capabilities
The iPhone’s 2 mega pixel camera is a basic one with satnav software to tag the photos, giving the geographical coordinates where the image was taken. The built-in GPS and Google maps are quite useful, though it does not support turn-by-turn directions. Blackberry Bold 9000 also has the same 2 mega pixel camera with geo-tagging feature. Its integrated GPS system is easy to use and you can even install software to give turn-by-turn directions.
On the Apple iPhone Camera Mobile Phone, you can receive your mails as soon as they come to your mailbox. You can open documents, but cannot edit them. The virtual keypad typing takes some time for getting used to. While, typing on the full-sized Blackberry Bold keypad is quite comfortable and you can even edit documents with applications like ‘Word to go’.
Surfing the web
This is one area where the Apple iPhone excels and no other phone gives such a rich experience of web browsing. Pages are quickly loaded and zooming in and out of the pages with the touch of a finger is effortless and amazing. With the Blackberry camera mobile phone, the surfing experience might seem to be a bit frustrating as you have to use the track ball to move around the pages as well as to read the web pages you have to zoom in.
Multimedia
You can easily access the iTunes music library and also watch videos on the brilliant 3.5” vibrant screen of the Apple iPhone. The main thriller of the iPhone is its iPod functionality. Blackberry Bold also offers remarkable multimedia features.
Both the Apple iPhone 3G and Blackberry Bold come with 3G, HSDPA, integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The IPhone seems to be the best all-round handset, while Email and professional uses are the priorities of Blackberry Bold.
