Smartphones have not lost their sheen among the glitz of emerging android cloudburst. Each top manufacturer has at least one well known make, and Acer is no less. In the juncture of Acer’s announcement to launch six android smartphones in first half of 2010, here is a review on Acer F900 smartphone (not android phone).
With a dimension of 117.5mm X 63.5mm X 15.8mm and a weight of 150 gms, Acer F900 is a little heavy weight champion. It features an impressive display of 3.8 inches of resolution 480 X 800 pixels. Absence of a trans-reflectivity makes it a bit difficult to look into it, from direct sunlight. But to say, it provides a decent wide-screen view. When it comes to the interface, Acer F900 smartphone has a personalized Acer Shell running on Windows Mobile 6.1 personalization pack. It has a virtual 3D office and the widgets look attractive in this new look. Users can even change over to normal icons, but there is no reasons to do so. Acer Shell showcases an excellent functionality with its appealing look in grey and blue.
This Acer F900 Windows Mobile Smartphone has a large keyboard, which is absolutely comfortable to use. This global GSM mobile phone comes pre-loaded with Internet Explorer 6 with flash support. It also has HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity. The provision to install additional programs is definitely an added advantage.
Regarding the camera, F900 smartphone features a 3.2 mega pixels camera with auto focus and flash support. Video shooting is also possible, and this smartphone captures videos at a resolution of 640 X 480 pixels. Many settings including camera mode, white balance, effects, self-portrait, flash, geo-tagging and continuous shooting up to nine frames are offered to fine tune your capture. With colours re-produced accurately, the camera functionality of Acer F900 performs well and delivers a decent image quality. The videos in MPEG-4, H264 and DivX formats are played well in this windows smartphone.
Acer F900 3.2MP Camera Mobile Phone employs a Samsung SC3 6410 533MHz processor and performs well without any lags. If we look into its pitfalls, sound quality is where Acer F900 scores low. The voice may seem to be monotonous and the callers may hear their own voice. The battery life too cannot be said to be so high, with manufacturer’s claim of four hours of continuous talk time and 150 hours stand by time. As a whole, Acer F900 is definitely a decent windows mobile smartphone, but with some pitfalls like low call quality. But when it comes to certain features like web browsing, this is the best one to be relied on.
