KT770

The rain played havoc that day. It poured down with all might, unmindful of mankind’s loud protests. It was confused, for some welcomed it with both arms wide, while some shut it out with their black, rude umbrellas. But, it poured down nevertheless, nonchalant. Duncan parked his car at a deserted garage and ran with his hood over his head, to a tiny pub that stood strong amidst the storm. Once inside, the warmth from the many cups of drinks hugged him tight and he made for a table at the far corner. After ordering a drink, he sat looking out the window, when a rather harried woman took the seat opposite him.

He was glancing at her now and then, but after 20 minutes or so, he couldn’t hold his tongue back. ‘Excuse me, do you want help with anything? You look rather worried.’ She ignored him, and Duncan felt mightily snubbed. He cursed himself under his breath and collected his coat and started to get up. ‘I lost my purse. And it had my mobile phone in it.’ said the woman. Duncan, moved on wanting to save himself from further embarrassment. ‘I’m sorry.’ said the woman again. ‘I didn’t mean to be rude.’

‘Listen’ said Duncan taking his seat. ‘If your mobile phone is that dear to you, why don’t you try tracing it back? For instance, where did you last use it?’ ‘It fell down a gutter.’ at this Duncan smothered a chuckle and fell silent. ‘Hey, what’s so funny, Huh?’ asked the woman, now smiling tentatively. Duncan noticed that she had sapphire-blue eyes. ‘Looks like I’ll have to buy a new one.’ ‘Now, THAT is where I’ll pitch in.’ thought Duncan. ‘I can help you an that.’ ‘Really? Okay then. Go on. Lets see what you got.’ said the woman with a trace of sarcasm.

‘The LG KT770 slide mobile phone is what I propose to you to buy. ‘It’s to be launched pretty soon. I’ll give you an account of it’s features. It is a stylish sliding phone with a 2.8 inch display with a 240 x 400 pixel resolution. It measures about 111 x 52 x 16mm which is quite a medium size.’ ‘I can gather that.’ said the woman and Duncan rejoiced at her tone of annoyance. ‘You can use it for browsing and navigating with ease’ went on Duncan.rainy_day

‘The LG KT770 5 megapixel Camera mobile phone has Wi-Fi, GPS, and also supports 3.5G. The 5 megapixel camera comes with various features. It has smile shot, panoramic function and also facial recognition.’ ‘Did your old phone have such an impressive camera?’ asked Duncan. ‘I suppose not. And do you know the downloading speed?’ questioned the woman twirling a strand of her locks with a finger. ‘Yes I do.’ began Duncan. ‘It is about 7.2Mbps. It has HSDPA and quad-band GSM. The memory of the KT770 is about 1GB or 2GB and you can further expand it to about 16GB with the aid of the microSD card.

The rain outside seemed to have trickled down to an unending drizzle. But neither Duncan nor the woman ventured outside. So engrossed were they, in their conversation. ‘Does the KT770 have infrared?’ inquired the woman. ‘No, there isn’t. But it has Facebook installed in it. And then, there is a Fring client instant messaging and VOIP. There in no FM tuner, but it has a multimedia player though. And, oh, there’s QuickOffice too. Now for the interesting part. This mobile phone features Navigons MobileNavigator 7 software.’ ‘And, what is that?’ questioned the woman who now nursed a new found respect for Duncan. ‘Using this, you can navigate your way if you find yourself lost in a maze of mysterious roads.’

‘Now that looks like quite a good phone to buy.’ commented the woman. ‘Oh, my God!’ she exclaimed. ‘I’m late. Well, thank you sir, for all that information. It was a pleasure talking to you.’ saying this, she gathered her things, put on her mackintosh and rushed out without turning back. Duncan was rather taken aback, for she left him abruptly.

He signaled the waiter and ordered another drink. ‘Who do you suppose that woman was?’ asked Duncan as the waiter returned with his drink. ‘What woman?’ asked the waiter with his brows furrowed. ‘Didn’t you notice? She was sitting right next to me for the last half-an-hour. Tall, brown hair.’ The waiter stared at him, shook his head sideways and said, ‘I don’t know what you are talking about, mister. As far as I could see, you were sitting alone at the table.’ Duncan stared at him, dumb-struck, wondering if he was trying to make a fool of him. ‘You were actually talking to the empty seat in front of you.’
